exactly how to join in irc??

i got irc up and all i join #sod channel but nothing happens am i missin a step ?

If you are using firefox you can also grab the add-on chatzilla instead of installing mirc.

"Pidgin" is supposed to be a good free IRC client.

Useing mIRC thier is no Shardsofdalaya.com server/client....or a way to type one in without making the server myself it seems.

Obviously I'm doing something wrong.... I have never used any type of IRC or instant messager.

I'm using mIRC. What I do is bring up IE, type irc://www.shardsofdalaya.com and that automatically starts mIRC for me. Some crap comes up about a connection, I click go ahead. Then another dialog comes up with a bunch of random channels. I just kill that. Then up by the menu there is a channel button. I click that, pick SOD and i'm there.
