"Errors were encounter while patching (see log for details). This can happen if u have another ********* client running. do u wish to run ********* anyways?

Yes - No"

get this pop up after running patcher. everytime i log in i have to reset all my options, (Screen Res, Models, etc).

any advice?

I'm having the exact same issue, here is a copy of my log file...

That, and when i launch eq anyway, i plug in my login info and i get a failed to connect to world message.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a returning player to SoD.
 
Interesting, firefox can get to shards.com but my IE can't, does that matter? Does IE absolutely have to connect to shards.com to be able to patch and play the game?
 
Yes, Internet Explorer uses your computer's internet settings most apps will share these settings. A few (like Firefox) have their own configuration stored separately.

What Wesell said. The patcher uses the same underlying connection framework that IE uses, being built on Microsoft technologies. If IE can't connect, the patcher won't either. Firefox, although a superior browser, is irrelevant in this case.
 
I see, well I can't seem to get IE to connect to the net at all, i've run the the diagnostic tool that IE8 has, and nothing.

The Diagnostic tool says that it cannot establish an HTTP, HTTPS or FTP connection. I have disabled my firewall and reran the test and got the same thing. I am using a wireless connection to access the web with no hard line connection available (college wifi).

Any other solutions?

Nevermind guys, i figured it out, somehow my net setting got changed and would allow IE to access the net.... so i just reset all my net settings to default (for IE that is) and voila!

Thanks for the clarification on the difference of IE and Fox... that shed some light on a few other things I was haveing issues with.

Hi i am a new player or trying to be, Have a simialr problem as chris above. Was there ever a resolution the his problem. Looked for simailr problems in the forums this is all i can find. my Log reads liek this....

i set IE as my defualt browser and i am currently able to acess the main site. My apologies if thsi is hijacking his thread but seeign as how the problem was siamilr i posted here instead of creatign a new one.. thank you in advance i alos unchecked use eqw and checked repatch all

Looks like those eq files are that are failing are either being used (make sure you're not running EQ), or that they are read only. Try using attrib to reset the read-only attribute "attrib -r eqgame.exe".

well what i ended up doing was getting the manual install files then looked for the files that were failing eqgame.exe for example was one when i tried to replace it it gave me an error so i moved it out and moved the new one in.. now after reading your post i see it must have been write protected. It works now thank you.
