EQ2 F2P

Makes it look almost sad to play the free package, though if it's fun the $10 one-time pay to be Silver isn't so bad

I haven't finished the download, yet. It looks like there's a lot available to free but I'm worried that end-game will leave free players with nothing to do. I'm also concerned about the spell limitations listed if you're only Free to Play
 
I played EQ2 for a good while, right up before Sentinel's Fate came out. Sadly, if you aren't using fully upgraded "spells" or "combat arts", you pretty much are near useless in any high end content. Some may argue that, but there is a reason guilds want fully mastered players.

There is coin limitations, broker (auction house) restrictions, and a horrible gear restriction as well unless you go Gold or Platinum. Not to say that we can't start a solid group or anything, and run some cool zones...but I don't see how playing anything aside from Gold or Platinum will be rewarding.

I'll download and roll a Templar probably since I cannot be Defiler. Will post later with name.

Ya. I mean the game itself, if it were unrestricted, is awesome. But with all that bullshit going on, you can't even enjoy dungeon crawling cause you can't use any of the *good* gear.
 
The little movie on the link looks very nice. I tried playing EQ2 when it first came out for about 2 days and just thought the game was a suck. I promptly uninstalled the game and gave away the cds.

Looks like you could go to level 80 on this freebie one. But if you were level 80 with level 1 gear im sure like the above posters mentioned isnt very good.
 
Exactly. If you want to just play it and have fun, go for it. Its a great offer. But if you expect to tank "hard mode" instances in crap gear with no masters...good luck!
 
they limited chatting and selling/buying so much for free players that it almost doesn't feel like an mmo. just a open world single player game full of collection quests
 
Haha, exactly. Good luck getting a non-crap group to actually do something. Quest grinding is lame =/ Come back to SoD and tank for me.
 
Oh I think I log on EQ2 all of 5 minutes before I get bored. I hit 20 and pretty much stopped. Torchlight has been eating my time lately.
