Reduce the cooldown time to something like 20-30 minutes or so.

Without any actual numbers or parsing or any of that jazz, I'd say on average I keep standard mobs charmed for anywhere between 6-10 minutes. Of course the luck factor with charm is that we have mobs break charm in less than a minute, and I've also had mobs locked down for over 15 minutes.

What charm spell are you using that has a 15 minute duration prior to the changes made in this patch with enhanced control?

Also, as far as I know, no changes can be made to AA timers or cost, etc, only to what they do. I think maybe this is being worked on, though...?

Shiritri's Promise, and I can't verify or guarantee the 15 minutes. I've just hunted at eplague tunnels with pumas a bunch, and sometimes the charm last a really good amount of time. I've never taken the time to actually record charm times, so sorry if that was an exaggeration.

As far as not changing the AA timers, I didn't know that, and if that is the case, disregard my post and I'll come back with other ideas.

"While it could be subject to further change if we don't end up liking the results, the new AA, 'Enhanced Control' (or whatever its final name ends up being) will increase the duration of a currently running charm by (N)*%. If you are a druid or necromancer using the skill on a non animal or undead, it will increase the duration by (N/2)*%. You may of course target other peoples charmed pets, you are not limited to your own charmed pet.

As luck is still involved a minimum duration may be added, blowing an AA to get a 1% tick increase sucks no matter how you shake it.

While your welcome to discuss the change and critique it however you want, I won't likely be commenting further until release (gonna be soon!).

As it sits now, I'm really happy with the change. I got DC about a week before charmed pets were nerfed to 2 attacks per round, CHs got nerfed to 10 minute refreshes, terrorfish in darkwoods became unchamrable (pretty much the only reason I wanted DC as a druid) and fish could no longer run on land. So however long ago that was, since then I've used DC maybe 5 times, and had the charm eventually wear off when I went LD or got PL and had to force the LD. So considering how unpractical DC was, Enhanced Control is a welcome change.

It sounds like the minimum duration will eventually get placed in, so as far as the refresh goes, maybe have AAs that decrease the refresh time like there are for escape/exodus. After spending 9 AAs on EC itself, and then 2/2/2 to reduce the time by 30% (50 min refresh instead of 72), I'd say it'd be fair to be able to have a guaranteed 15 minute (or whatever it is, hopefully at least 10 minutes) charm every 50 minutes.

Some might look at that and say "a minimum 10/15 minute duration? no way" but I think 15 AAs is a worthy reward to have that option. And 10/15 minutes isn't really that long. The only place I really charm is in EPL/WPL and being able charm a puma for a guaranteed 15 minutes every 50 minutes isn't all that unbalanced. As it stands now, I can charm kill without the EC and still fair okay, but EC would just save me some extra mana every hour.

And I think it'd help enchanters bring more to group situations and make them more desirable DPS options. The soloing enchanter would be able to have a little more success but without heals their pet probably wouldn't even last the full minimum duration.

I don't know much about necro's so maybe someone else can comment.

Pretty much that. Your character screen is pretty much as is, and there is little there that we can change. Whatever numbers it came with, its stuck with, as far as we've been able to figure out.

That doesn't mean we can't work around at times though...
