Enchanter Request

Hello forum readers! This is a Somatic Bond request, currently it shows you some really rad numbers when you cast it on a player (AWESOME! I love seeing back-stabs coming out of a dope enchanter!). Could this be made to do the same thing when it is cast on a pet? Sometimes I'm just rolling duo and don't have any players who I want to Somatic Bond, it would be nice if I could see some numbers coming out of the enchanter to tell if it is more effective to Somatic Bond a Charmed Pet or a Player Pet.

The spell has no effect when used on pets (it works by increasing ATK, which NPCs don't use at all). So technically, the lack of messages is already accurate. It's adding 0 damage every hit.

Player pets do use ATK, though, right? Or does the ATK buff on pet haste spells (like Sha's Ferocity) similarly do nothing?

Does nothing. Pets and other NPCs have declared damage ranges (which are increased by Companion Strength focus, Codex of Power, bonuses from worn STR and weapon ratios, etc for pets). Player melee damage is wholly derived from their ATK, increased by specializations and fed through a complex and seemingly arbitrary equation to churn out a number like 3.4245987698 and then used as a multiplier on weapon DMG to define the maximum possible hit.

There is pretty much zero overlap or equivalence between the two systems. So it is really unclear how to include ATK into pet or NPC damage calculations in a way that would give it similar weight (can't just say 799 ATK is equal to a 20% increase or anything like that; the effective damage increase depends on how much ATK they had before, for players). Especially if we want to avoid making significant changes to pet DPS. Or completely overhaul how their damage works. Or just have to rebalance a bunch of things for little gain.

Thank you for the clarification! I did not know that and will now stop wasting my mana on somatic bonding pets :)

If you are charming things you should cast boon of the garou (werewolf thing) on your pet because its like 60% overhaste

I always thought that beastlords should get a pet only somatic bond type spell. That would involve making ATK actually do something for pets but it would be a good change anyway as far as how pets work.

Playing both a pet class and enchanter I do not feel the need for pet damage to depend on attack. Would be just one more thing to worry about.
