Emberflow -aggro tome

SomeMonk

Dalayan Beginner
I was wondering if it would be possible for this tome to be
toggled on and off, after completion.

On raids it would be a cool thing to have -aggro for a lot of classes,
but in groups a lot of times you have weird classes tanking, like
monks/rangers and would want that aggro.

Would it be possible to make it so the tome only takes effect while
in inventory, or add /cm something on/off, or something? /shrug

if not its cool too, just think it'd be a nice option.

I would love this as I have an aggro(+) tome rotting in both Drello's and Felyn's bank. I think it would be really awesome to be able to toggle between the two tomes so that you could use one for DPS'ing and the other for tanking.

Not sure if it is even possible, but it would be great. I never really got around to posting this idea because at the time, our group were the only people to have it, and I didn't want to seem as greedy.

ohh yea that would be awesome. I dont have either of these tomes yet, but I would be a bit reluctant to work on the -aggro one when you cant turn it off. Outside of raid, and even on raid sometimes there are often situations where you want to get as much aggro as possible and the tome would make it harder in these situations. Plus usually u can always jolt to lose aggro, but not taunt as reliable. (at least not as monk/ranger/bard/rogue...)

Exactly for the same reason I did not bother getting the -aggro AA on myrah too yet. Too often I end up beeing the tank or have to emergency tank stuff and I want max aggro in these situations.

+/- Aggro gear can be switched in/out at least.

Would be cool if you could toggle each of the tomes +aggro/-aggro on and off seperatly (switch between +5%/0%/-5% aggro) and also be able to turn the effects of spell casting subtiety on/off the same way if that is possible.

We like the idea of having to make hard tome choices and are looking to actually implement a lot more in the future. Although I do agree that it would be nice to be able to toggle in this specific situation it simply is not our intent. Just wait till you have to choose between abilities...

you mean ill have to choose between tanking and drinking whiskey? oh, noes.....

aww that doesnt sound too good ^_^ (in my personal opinion, that is)

I always loved the idea to be as versatile as possible and not have choose between different exclusive paths. When you then later discover you chose the "wrong" path this can lead to quite some frustration I fear. Same way as it already happens with dieties and people beeing stuck with pariah/divine light.

I can see some things that could be exclusive lines. Even the restriction of EITHER the + aggro or the - aggro tome.. but from a roleplay perspective for example: You do learn new combat stances that lead to more aggro or less aggro, but what prevents you from just using your normal stances?

So maybe it could just be exclusive in the way that you can only learn one side, but still be able to choose the times when you use that new knowledge from the tomes and when not (aka activate/deactivate its effect)

Simpler yet would be a limited number of active tomes. That way, you could conceivably complete them all, but you could only activate a select chunk subject to restrictions like how often you can switch between sets, and perhaps how many tomes of a certain type, or AA completion, you can have active at any time. You also still have to make "hard tome choices," but you would not have the problem of "oh shit I can't believe I did that," and you would have more fun constructing "builds" for your character instead of just "build." Not least of all, players would simply have more content this way without having to create a second monk to experience all the monk content.

edit: Or an npc that made you pay to switch between them.

Read my mind on that last edit Mang, 10k or so to turn a tome on/off would be a tiny bonus money-sink *shrug*

Sounds a lot like paying to re-spec yourself. Sound too much like WoW?

I do like the idea of it being a plat sink though.

I think being able to toggle between the two would be really cool, even if there was some kind of hassle in doing so. If you made it so that you had to be in town to do it, I think that would be enough of a detriment. That way you couldn't just keep swapping it back and forth during a raid or in an exp. group. You would have to choose before you went out. Not really sure if a plat sink is a great answer, but maybe a small one to make it have a bigger downside.

Either way, having the option to use both would be great!

Actually, could we make these tomes act kind of like that one suggestion for the Casting Subtlety AA? Just have the tomes give a bonus to the aggression mods on your equipment? So the neg aggro tome would give a bonus to your neg aggro items, and the same for the plus aggro tome?
