Effect for Flying Kick

I noticed there is no special effect for Flying Kick, like there is with Dragon Punch, Tiger Claw etc. Is this to encourage use of these skills once getting Flying Kick? Otherwise, a nice effect for Flying Kick might be a concussion type proc to lower agro, because it is probably rare for a monk in group to want a root or agro effect from claw or punch.

I think the special effect of Flying Kick is its damage. Just guessing, my monk still has no FK.

Its damage is higher because its a higher level skill. Im just wondering if the special effects are on others to encourage use... because if they are neither are great in groups.

The effects on the other special attacks are to give the monk some additional utility, not to encourance their use. The effects don't kick in until the 30's (35 maybe?), so when each skill is your current high-damage skill, it doesn't have an effect going off. Otherwise, there would be a number of times you'd have to hold back on using special attacks in fights because you didn't want the effect at that time.

In most instances I just want to do the highest damage with my special attack. If I want to try to a particular effect, I'm sacrificing some special attack damage for the possible utility proc. It makes sense to me.

The damage on flying kick is out of proportion with the scale of the other attacks. Its advantage is most definitely much higher DPS than the other abilities. Just as you sacrifice interrupts and whatnot for the high DPS, you've got to sacrifice the high DPS if you want the utility. To maintain some kinda balance, I suspect FK would get nerfed to hitting for 50 or 60 tops, if it was given some kind of special effect--not that it would or should be.

Also, monks don't need another aggro reduction ability. They already have the best of any class. Any monk who needs more is either A) lazy; B) crappy; or possibly C) way too uber for the group they're in.

I would be upset if Flying Kick got changed in any way at all, the current monk abilities are perfectly balanced.

Indeed, I like that the 'older' skills were given some use. On live my monk immidiatly switched to the newest skill and never bothered with the previous from that day forward. I always thought it was a bit retarded of sony to do that.

Ah, the honorable human trait of talking out of one's ass.

Actually the poster before you is perfectly correct; Flying Kick is the DPS attack and that is why it has no effect.

All of them have great uses.
Flying kick = dmg
Tiger Claw = Agro
Tail Rake = Root
Eagle Strike = Interupts Casters

I tend to use Tiger Claw and Flying kick the most for agro purposes.
