duration of befriend animal (druid 14)

Hi there, I've resently lvled up to 14 :) and I decided to test befriend animal, with dark blue monsters, just to get an idea of how to do it before seriously start using it to lvl up, so... My experience was almost good, I charmed at warrens a dark blue giant bat, It lasted at least 1 minute, I cant tell how much more because he died :lol: but later I charmed another giant bat like the last one, and it actually lasted... 1 minute, more or less :brow: I mean, if im supposed to solo eventually, because I wont always get a group, how im supposed to KILL anything with a dark blue monster that lasts 1 minute for a minimum (Im assuming thats the minimum, not the maximum :eek: ). What's the point of this post then? Im asking the "spell scripter" of the Staff to modify it so it lasts long enough for a druid to do something with his charmed pet :) im not asking for a minimum duration of 10 mins, just 2 at least!

note: im not telling people what to do here ;) Im just saying my point of view of a spell in the game, and I just posted a suggestion about it :hug:
 
what is your charisma ?

I use charm all the time to solo. I have noticed that cha does affect not only the resist, but also the duration of the charm. I can usually go for about an average of 15 with holding a pet before it breaks.
 
base wood elf charisma :eek: I didnt know it affected so much the spell, but anyways it shouldnt, who would raise one stat that only affects this spell?
 
ah. ok. must be the charisma then, cuz i have low cha on my druid (44) and his charm lasts like 30sec - 1 min as well (which sucks when trying to kill another mon and they both turn on you). I should look into some +cha items...

Someone mentioned in another post that a helpfile on classes might be good to help newcomers. I think this shows that (because most people are unaware that things like cha help more than just bards). At least...that's the way I was taught this game...who knows, perhaps I'm just a loony. (or both >D)
 
You guys mean that im basically screwed unless I get cha items with money I dont have, because with charm monster I could get that money to buy 'em by killing tougher monsters, but I cant since I dont have the +Cha items? Its like a paradox! :(

Well, I can tell you now that you will have to raise your Cha regardless if you want to charm or not charm. Cha affects resists on WR. So you will have to make the investment sometime. There are items that drop that increase cha just look for them.
As for expecting charm fighting to be a main source of xp at low to mid levels, I would not count on it. The base spells themselves do not have a long duration compared to the higher. As an enchanter, I did not start using charm until 50 plus. Simply because i felt i did not have the cha for it. You still have lots of spells at your disposal to use other than charm.
 
Now I understand! I wonder then how to lvl up without fighting, or very little... Well, I guess im going to expend some hours looking for cha+ items in eq.crgaming.com :) How can I know which ones im able to find in wr?
 
You won't be able to find any WR items on Caster's Realm. :( Winter's Roar is a completely custom server, think of it as a different game in comparison to Everquest live.

One small suggestion however, would be to look in the bazaar once you've saved up 82pp. There's a charm for sale that gives +15 to charisma. ;)
 
If you can't afford the 85pp one yet, there is one with 3 int, 3 wis, and 3 char on it for only 2pp. Great for lowbie casters.
 
Nice, those charms look handy! and expensive... :p The one of 85pp will be my goal then, I have around 50 pp right now, but I wonder how useful is +15 cha to charm animals...

There's a 8 cha pixie headpiece in Faengsddssg woods, that drops from pixie thing, I used it until this sunday (level 60).
