Dread Lich - Necro AA

Just posting some feedback.

9 min reuse. Casts a buff on you that lasts for 5 server ticks and can't be clicked off. Drains 8k hps and returns roughly 2.3k mana.

Lucky I had some buffs or it probably would have killed me.

Do those numbers sound right?

In your case.

Drains 100% of your max HP and restores 25% of your max mana over 5 ticks.

(Buffs don't matter -- it didn't kill you because of rounding and the fact that you clicked it at full HP. Also because even without rounding it would have to take a little more than 100% to get you to -10 HP.)

So this was intended as an out of combat thing only?

It definitely killed me when I clicked it under 100% health which means if I click it in combat I need to lifetap a bunch of health back or rely on someone else to heal me. If I lifetap most of the lets say 8k back i'd need to spend about 1k mana. If someone was healing me they're healing a 2kish dot for 5 ticks on top of any other damage that might be incoming and that might be a problem.

Lifetapping - by the time the lich wears off i've spent half of the mana I got back just to stay alive.

Healing - If it's on a raid mob which is probably the most important time to use this I need to make sure 1. my healer is on the ball and ready to heal me over the next few ticks. 2. Hopefully there isn't any AE dmg inc at the time of the lich to make it worse.

I haven't raided with it yet just played around with it in town.

I guess I was imagining something like Canni V, maybe 20% hp for 20% mana over 5 ticks once every 9 mins.

Keep in mind that it's new and the values were arbitrary so adjustments could happen.

No? Although you're free to use it that way if you want.

Does the remaining ~1.3k not count? Or does the time spent casting the lifetaps cancel out the benefit of that mana due to (potentially?) lowered DPS? Or some other issue? Need more info.

I'd rather increase the mana gain rather than completely remove the risk when it comes down to it. The risk is the whole idea. There definitely will be times when you are taking damage and shouldn't use it; you'll have to decide whether it's worth commiting to ~24-30 seconds of risk when you hit the button rather than just brainlessly hammering it whenever it comes up. I'd like it to stay that way if at all possible.

If it's just gonna be a canni clone then it'll be flat values and less than 1:1 rather than slap shamans in the face.

@Zaela,

Much Respect, but the numbers were not arbitrary. I have worked on spells and balancing on an EMU with my cousin. That project, predictably, did not complete. Such things are HUGE tasks. You do not "just adjust" spells. You kick the numbers around quite carefully! Then you release and if enough people are mad...you inch it up just a tiny amount :p

Acid reflux, Gravel in the gut, Spit in the eye! If you can not make them sweat what is the point :)

Seriously, mad respect for all of you!
