Does SoD Work On Vista?

I have run it on Vista for quite a while, although you might come up to minor issues, but they can be easily fixed.

True; easiest way to run SoD is to right click, run as administrator, or right click properties, compatibility, always run as admin. However, I run as a limited user through folder virtualization (built into Vista) and still dont have many problems (at least none I wouldnt get on XP).

You might consider disabling the UAC prompts and going into the compatibility tab to run as administrator.

I would really like to know what the hell kind of magic you're pulling.

I've been trying to get SoD to work on my new machine for a couple weeks now, I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium - 64bit.

I've disabled UAC, Windows Firewall, Windows Defender... nothing, 1001 error and cannot get past the login screen >_<

I just got a new machine, thanks power surge death, and it worked just fine.
(1) Install from a titanium image file I keep
(2) download the SoD patcher and patch
(3) double check my .ini file settings.
the new SoD patcher really is sweet. makes everything simple.
As long as you dont patch to live or something you'll be fine.

1001 Error means you have the wrong eqhost.txt settings. Find that file in your installed directory and make sure they are as follows:

Code:
[Registration Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91"
}
[Login Servers]
{
"72.55.164.91:5997"
}
Secondly if you want to get it to work with EQWindows you must turn off DEP in order for it to work efficiently. To do this RIGHT Click on your Computer icon and select properties, Click Advanced System Settings, Advanced Tab, Settings Button, Data Execution Prevention Tab, then make it look as I have it circled. Click okay, you may have to reboot for those changes. Then you're good to go.

If your having any issues after you see this then give us a detailed post. Use the capture screen key and open paint and make us pretty pictures.

I'm running SoD just fine under the same OS, 64bit. I just made sure all the programs associated with SoD is ran as admin and under XP sp2 compatibility. Also it works fine with UAC.

i changed nothing in vista ultimate 64-bit and it runs just fine. i turn off UAC immedialy when i install but even after attempting to leave it on it worked fine just required me to press ok 14 bajillion times.
my install also came off an xp machine so i just did a copy paste to my vista. whether that changes anything i don't know but i wouldn't think it would considering every file is installed into the eq directory and nowhere else.

I run it on Vista also, just changing it to Admin mode was the only thing I did. I even have every EQ expansion installed and am fully patched to live as of about a month ago. No isues at all.

I plugged my old laptop into my router, plugged my new vista 64bit desktop into the router, made the SoD folder on my laptop shared and just transferred it over directly. Whole process took about 5 minutes. It also helped me save a bunch of money on my car insurance.

I have a similar problem. I run the sodpatcher and look for the EQ folder. Click the folder and then click Patch and Run. Then says this :

eqgame.exe cannot be found in C:\(file location name). Please specify your ********* directory correctly.

The *********.exe file is in that folder but still says the same.
