Detailed Character Models activation

I have 4gb of memory. When I try to enable detailed character models it will only allow me do two of them because I have 4 gb. How do I defeat this? I know my new computer can handle more than 2 luclin detailed character models. I played old school eq and never had a problem even with 1 mb.
