Deleting inactive accounts?

Someone contacted me saying that the staff were deleting inactive accounts and I should log in or give my account information to him... was he trying to scam me or is this really happening? I couldn't find where it said this anywhere. I'm waiting for some new content before I start playing again, Kunark zones etc.
 
Anyone who asks you to give them your account info is scamming you, I would have to imagine.

I have heard nothing of this deleting. And on top of that, if it WERE happening, you could just log in for 10 seconds and back out one time... but ... yeah, I imagine you were being scammed.
 
If anyone ever asks for your account information for ANYTHING they are scamming you. The people that would be able to shut your account down certainly would not need your information since they have every tool available to do whatever they want.

Not only that but im sure Wiz would give us a warning well ahead of time if he were to ever start mass deleting Inactive accounts.

Don't EVER give out your login/PW info to anyone - not even those claiming to be on staff. We have access to that information. Clearly this is a scam. I'd report the person, so staffers (and other players) are aware of what the person was trying to do.

Nice finds.

This made me think of a couple things. It seems odd to me that people give their accounts to others. I know a few players who have high level accounts from 3-4 different people. Now they didnt buy these or anything ...but it seems wrong to just let another player have a high level account to use, people should earn their levels, and skills....anyways

This thread is golden... Tryfaen's post was fantastic...

Anyway; there have been dubious posts on our guild forum (public area...) with 'old' people wanting/requesting account info type stuff....

Not the first time nor the last it'll happen I guess....

Its done in every game. Generally a EULA violation but theres nothing wrong with it. You risk getting your shit ripped off in most cases so it comes down to how much you trust someone.
 
I think I know who this Halsey person is, they will be banned as soon as I have time to do it.

Also, it's obviously a scam. Never give out your account info, ever.

Its done in every game. Generally a EULA violation but theres nothing wrong with it. You risk getting your shit ripped off in most cases so it comes down to how much you trust someone.

Most times these people already have high level accounts and it's just to help them (buffs, ports) or they're done playing and give their characters to their guild. If you only play one character on this server then at times your guild will give you a character that they need to raid. Then from there it's history.

Of course, you have to be trust worthy before people hand out their account information.

If I wasn't going to play anymore I'd have no problem giving out my chars or gear instead of having it going to waste on an inactive account.

However, this guy lied to me and said you guys were deleting inactive accounts, which bothered me.

I don't mean this to sound rude or disrespectful in any way, but is this meant as a rule that I have missed in my reading, or a general piece of advice? I have been considering giving a member of my immediate family my account information so he can have a port-bot if he needs it (neither of us two-box regularly). I will definitely not do this if it is against the rules and/or you say not to, but I would trust him with this information and be willing to risk losing the account should he violate my trust provided that it would not break the rules.
 
I hate trying to guess Wiz's thoughts, and I hope I will not be reprieved for doing it, but I am pretty sure he meant not to give your info to people you don't trust.

I can't imagine that it would be wrong to share your account with your family or buddies.
 
I just mean that you should not give out your account info to people you don't trust really really well. It's not a rule, you can shout it out in OOC if you want to, it's just a recommendation.
