So it seems pretty harsh with this "one and done" business when you Pledge to any God (especially since the wiki was pretty uninformative way back in the day). Is the punishment of pledging Pariah going to be infinite?

Would just suggest making a long quest chain to repent for sins of pledging Pariah so you can re-pledge. After all, Gods are supposed to be forgiving when you atone for your sins, right?

inb4 flaming.

I think its pretty dumb that new characters get a quest in their log suggesting they seek out a god with little to no knowledge of what it really means to pledge to one or what consequences it has (see: tarhyl)

Yes, exactly. I sure did pledge to Tarhyl unknowing that once you get to Tier 7/8 you will be in ToT half the time raiding there, and was forced to Pariah. Seems pretty harsh.

Edit: I would be more than happy to help with whatever I can, writing out the dialogue, etc. to get this rolling if it would be possible.

I feel your pain but none of the gods (aside from maybe Althuna?) are into the whole forgiveness thing and I mean as a pariah you're saying screw the gods in a setting where they very obviously exist and have a presence.

Also I don't know if it's possible but adding the journal entry for pledging when you ding 20 and expanding the NPC dialogue a bit might go a long way. Or even just some chat about the gods in the Dream aside from the books.

I'm all for adding dialogue to journal entries so people don't continue to make the same mistake (which seems to be happening to new players repeatedly), except it wouldn't exactly be fair to give them the advantage when I'm already codex-deep with this problem.

Would be absurd to start over.

No, not fair, but honestly your situation is probably not going to change. Being able to swap who your are pledged to has been discussed tons of times and always been shot down so you may just need to live with it for that character, it's honestly not the worst thing in the world unless you're intent on min-maxing in every possible way.

It's not really about swapping it by simply talking to someone. Wouldn't be so difficult to make an extensive quest (could be longer than MQ for all I care for).

I was including this when I said has been discussed at length but always shot down

Yeah, I did a small search and also noticed it wasn't on the "Do not post" list so I figured I would try. Oh well.

Permanent decisions on a game that takes about a full year of playtime to max AA/tomes is just silly though, regardless.

I made it to #1, but it still irks me that I miss some easy stats and dps boost because i was clueless about the whole diety system until I had already killed the god(s) that would have been good options for me.

I don't care so much about getting another chance, but offering poriah's an aug quest and maybe a way to hit 20% spec would be great. We could have to kill all the gods in the game to slowly gain spec up to 20%! This would even be a new way to add content at a variety of tiers if some more gods became killable.

Gods aren't going to become killable and pariah will eventually get an aug, you have been around long enough to know this.

What kind of message does it send, when mortals kill a god?
Makes me question why they are worshiped after a while.

Pariahs should kill some physical manifestation of a lesser god, or some such thing, toward the end of their quest, and when it dies there should be some serious repercussions. "Guys I'm one aug away from being done with my aug quest! Wtf I just got an emote basically saying god was pissed and a giant fireball aoe'd me out of nowhere and killed my entire group." Fun little scripts like that on a randomized timer until the end of the quest. And then that last quest should be as tedious yet easy as possible to drag that on with a variety of that type of stuff, yet easy enough so that no one is getting locked into it because they aren't high enough tier to beat it. Mmm, I smell fried toad. Thats what I would do anyways.

I can always dream

What I really don't understand is why I get the impression poriah is being done last when its probably the most popular diety on the server...

Because quest writing is prioritized by inspiration more than demand?????

Solo here's what you do, you go harass slaar and talk up stral's ap from like a month or two ago where I put in to do this exact thing, and THEN (this part is extremely important) you overnight me a floppy disk drive because I need to flash my motherboard. Alternatively you go find me a bios flash hack for a cd that's windows 7 supported.

*edit: Ohhh, I attributed the dumb to the wrong people (its totally on this side of the isle). Asus are good people, with their little executable awesomeness.
