I would start again, but then I've only been playing a month or so.
I've seen this topic come up before, most notably on the EQ Live Test Server. There's a tendency to see leveling as a race sometimes, and those that start late would like a level playing field. It isn't a race, and any character wipe would be incredibly unfair to people with established high level characters.
Voted yes, why? Because this game rocks and I dont really want to walk away from, hell it might even be fun to start everyone over at 1. Everyone on equal ground again
I just want to make a point. I would definatly start over if I "HAD" to, but I would only start over ( and I mean 100% from scratch ) if I had to. I mean come on lets be honest here if you had a lvl 65 wizard with a billion aa's and a 65 chanter with 2 billion aa's that you could 2 box and pretty much get whatever gear you wanted for a noobie, wouldn't you at least use one or two items? One of the greatest things that kept me playing live was they added that new server ( I forget the name ) and no transfers were allowed. It was the best ever because it wasn't just me running around witha rusty mace, EVERYONE was running around with a rusty mace. I for one got excited about little things again. Now you play live and a lvl 1 has better gear than somepeople will EVER see. The downfall to not getting in in teh beginning of a game like this or when a server is first brought up, is it seems you are playing catch up to the guy who started 2 weeks before you that has 10 more lvls than you and 5 pieces of better gear.
Some people need to feel they are the best geared, and kinda want to show off gear / aa / lvl, etc. I personally dont care, I play just for fun, if the guy standing next to me has Uber_sword_005 of doom, I will admire it sure, but it wont make me feel any less of a player because he has it. Even if he is level 1. And a Paladin...
I think that it would really suck, but since its not going to happen then I can answer honestly with no fear of being sent back to level one. I always hated that aspect of Mario Bros. Damn that game...
I hardly play at all anymore, and I'd play a lot more if all chars were reset. But I've always loved starting fresh in new MMORPGs, adventuring and finding those rare named NPCs that drop a slight upgrade is so much more exciting when people aren't selling the stuff dirt cheap or giving it away.
I'd definitely support a second "start over" server.
- - -Of course I would, it would be a great oportunity to try the new quests I completely missed because they weren't on when I explored that zone. It's not like I would enjoy seeing all my characters gone, but I wouldn't spend much time thinking about what I had lost.
