Creating a beastlord/cleric combo - pet question

I am creating a beastlord to help level up my cleric, because they suck solo and its hard to get groups without many low levels on. Plus its a good combo to not worry about equipment and get slows for higher levels, not to mention get a small clarity/mana bonus and a crapload of dps.

I noticed small changes in beastlord spells, such as healing pet reducing poison counters instead of disease counters, greater AC boost on haste buff, new 64 pet proc, gimped level 65 slow(bad part), gimped pet heal at high levels(bad part).

But I was wondering how the beastlord pet on WR differs from the live version:

Do they get speed increases from daggers like in old EQ?

How does the DPS compare with that of live?

If the DPS of their pets is higher, how much do they hit for on high levels?

Do low level pets get a DPS bonus too?

Are there any HP differences, or damage mitigation differences?

Since the stats are different, does this apply to pets too if I want to stat buff them?

Also, how much better is this level 64 pet proc, spirit of summer?

Questions about the beastlord themselves:

Also given the new map layout, and considering there are no races with beastlord AND cleric, what 2 races would be the closest together?

Are there any melee changes i.e. double attack, new avoidance capabilities(block, etc.)?

Would you recommend me being an ogre, since their AGI is low and, since stats are different, would I get pounded into the ground?

Thanks for all your help in advance :)

I don't really think that a beastlord and a cleric is an effective combination, to be honest. I'd say something like a rogue, ranger, warrior or monk would be pretty decent though.

Any duo can be an effective duo if played right. You just need to know your limitations. I think more people should just play what they think might be fun to play instead of trying to min/max everything.

You're interested in playing a beastlord. I say go for it. Cleric with beastlord is a good choice. You can't really go wrong using ANY melee or hybrid with a cleric at your side.

You'll enjoy having SoW later on as well. Trust me. I 2 box a rogue/cleric and I reeeeeally miss not having SoW.

Play whatever you want though. That's ultimately my point. Have fun.

Or you could try cleric/cleric. It'd be impossible to die! :D

As long as you fight undead you could totally wreck stuff. :) A little more limited when it comes to fighting other things however. But yeah, any combo works really.

My wife and I play a cleric/beastlord combo group and we succeed quite well. But then again we've been playing EQ together since its release, so we know each others playing techniques (which is a large factor in playing)...
