Hey guys i havnt played for a couple of months due to moving and getting a new isp. I have just got a new laptop and tried to install sod and the whole install goes smoothly and then the sod patch finishes but when eq goes to run i dont even get to the eula screen before this error pops up: exception (0x0000005). Ive tried alot of things i read about all over the web but cannot find a fix for this problem. I tried running as administrator, changing compatability mode to XPSP2, re installng eq on a fresh boot with nothing running in the backround, manualy downloading direct x dll files and placing them in the windows system folders and in the eq directory, installing eq to a diffrent directory, the list goes on. Im not sure if this involves programming or something beyond my skills. If you guys dont know any fix i will format and install xpsp2 but im trying not to lose all the data i had transfered from my old pc on here. I miss SOD please help!

If you just copied your SoD directory over from XP to Vista, it's not going to work. You need to actually install the Titanium or whatever.

Other than that, no idea, eyes bleeding from lack of capitalization, punctuation, and information.

I'm having this same problem, and I'm using a Vista as well. I was actually using SoD just fine for a couple of days, and then all of a sudden the client crashed and gave me that error. Now everytime I attempt to run the game, I can't even make it to the character selection screen.

Did you guys install the DirectX SDK runtime after you installed? I seem to remember that used to be required on XP, maybe Vista. I can't remember any other details about it, but I remember having to do it.

Well for what it's worth I too can no longer play SoD : \ I have not even attemptted to log in for several months, but everything ran fine the last time I played. Tried logging in tonight and obviously needed to update patcher. First attempt I received an error involving EqW not being able to be read, so I rebooted and tried running without Eqw. Now I can not even get to server select, and keep seeing the message error opening eqfeart12.pak . I've tried repatch all, and redownloading the patcher, but nothing changes. I also have tried searching for eqfeart files and can find nothing of the sort on my computer. Running vista and haven't played "the game" either since I last played SoD. Was really hoping to return, but that's not looking so good atm : \

If you are doing a fresh install (after wiping out the old EQ folder first) and it's still giving you errors, it may be a driver issue.

If you simply copied the eq folder over and then tried to install on top of it, that's not a fresh install and it may not like it.

For the rest of you, if you can't get the game running, try downloading and reinstalling the patcher off this site. If that still doesn't work, wipe the EQ game from your machines entirely and reinstall. Don't even leave your old ini files around.

It could be anything from a corrupted UI if you tried installing a broken one, to a corrupted zone file to a bad reference to a driver. No way to tell.
