I'm getting a mix of 1017 error, and eqgame.exe crashes every time I try to connect to the server (after server selection).

Any suggestions?
 
read the rest of the forums? LOTS of these issues, and no one can really answer them. just do everything that everyone else has already done
 
Allow me to be more specific. the 1017 error keeps telling me i need to rerun the patcher. "although this might indicate loss of connectivity to the patch server"

EqLive runs fine. I got SoD running fine 4 days ago.

I have since then; Reran the patcher, run window and fullscreen, reinstalled eq (repatched).

Am in the process of reinstalling once again.

Any ideas? constructive suggestions only please.
 
You probably don't have all the patch files down, or anything like that.

Search through the forums for the SoD patcher, or files.zip, or spells.zip. Some of these things can prevent you from actually logging in.
 
Ive used the SoD patcher, the Downloaded patch files. Can't seem to find spells.zip. anyone got a link?
 
Ok, hope it works for you. If not, PM me and I will try to go through it step by step with you on some kind of messaging program.
 
hokay here we go.
Ive installed.
Patched everything up to LDoN.
Patched with files.zip, spells.zip, maps.zip.
I start SoD up, login to server selection.
When I click play, it gets to "submitting player to world" starts to load, then kicks me back to the start screen.
When I try to log back in, it tells me.....
"Error 1017: Please rerun patcher program, this might be a sign of loss of connectivity to the patcher server. This loss is usually temporarily."

I miss my SoD, HEEELP!
 
are you behind a firewall? or if you are in a school dorm or such, do they have a firewall or proxy? also, when u run the SoD patcher, have you gone into "advanced" and selected "repatch all" ??

also what UI are you using?
 
Default UI, I've repatched all, and although I do live in a dorm, I can still connect to counterstrike, diablo2, and Was connected to SoD last week. It just stopped working over the weekend. ;(
 
I have this same problem (except I never get the 1017 error) and I don't live in a dorm or have a firewall. Could there have been soemthing added in a recent update that made this happen?

yeah this error is a bitch .

Try deleting your eqgame.exe , eqmain.dll , eqgx**8.dll (cantrmemebr the one but there is only one). from both patch folder (if different) and your eq folder. i used to have to del these everytime and rerun patcher, for SOD to work.

I freaking hate this error .
 
Didn't seem to work. Now for some reason I can't get to the server selection screen. Error 1001 "cannot connect to everquest server". As a side note, when I reinstalled eq, I used a friend's account to log in to live and that worked fine, so I'm not being blocked by a firewall or a crappy net connection.
 
EQ live uses totally different ports than SoD, i suggest checking with your dorms admin to see if they blocked the ports SoD runs on recently
 
Deleting then repatching those 3 files didn't change anything it seems. :(
any other suggestions?
