Connection change since war.

I was just wondering if anyone has noticed a change in connection since the war started. It takes me about 10-15 tries to get past server select and I also go ld 90% of the time through zones. Not sure if this is something that happened to my connection or if it is affecting others.

It's been happening to me since before the war started, but it hasn't always been that way. Other games I have no connection problems with. I assume it's due to the lag issue that's being worked on.

Don't want to misquote Wiz but I believe part of the issue he said was the listing system, which they are already working for an alternative... so be patient or come up with an inventive idea for a listing system replacement.

You take out the listview then you can't see who is selling. Kind of hard to buy anything if you can't see a list of people selling.

This would bring back a bit of proximity between seller & buyer , at the cost of convenience. But if it also saves lag, I'm all for it.

I agree. Take out the listview if that's causing lag. Keep it so people can use listsold and they can still auction their stuff, you just won't be able to scroll through thousands of items any more.

I am probably one of the biggest EC Tunnel fans, but i'm thinking SoD doesn't have more than 300 people online at a time, is that enough people at any given time to be selling items? at least with listview you can view offline players items. I don't mind getting rid of listview to help with lag for the time being but we still need a alternative imo.

There is a thread already for this I belive, anyone got link?

To be honest I don't have alot of play time. The time I do play I /auction something that I need for a tradeskill and I don't get a reply. With the listview I at least know who is selling what.

If they are interested in having a DB person help tune the SQL, I'm willing to put some time into it.

It's what I do for a living and I'm quite good at it.

Why not just use the But/Sell section in the forums. I use it to buy stuff now! I done really need to see it while in the game. I just write down what I see in the forum and look that person up with listsold to buy. I usually like to barter so I am more apt to wait for the person to come online anyways.

I say axe listview, listsold, listsend and anything do do with it. You have something to sell you auction it. You want to buy something you walk to the seller. You want to sell crap when your offline? Tough beans.

If auction spam is a big issue for you (wru multiple chat windows?) then turn it off.

Whatever it takes to ease the load on the obviously taxed server I'm for.

How do you walk to a seller when you don't know who is selling and what they are selling?

Step 1) They use /auc to announce what they are selling
Step 2) You use /tell name to let them know you are interested
Step 3) They use /tell name to reply with a location to meet
Step 4) The two of you meet up and exchange item for plat

:monocle:

PS: I would also support going back to /auc to sell items if it means being able to log in without immediately disconnecting half the time (/mourn athica), or crashing to server select every time I zone or die, or raid without wiping or crashing a zone due to horrible lag.

Another zone off of MoP where there is only a bank and players can go to trade. Make it closer in MoP than the other cities so as to encourage people to use that zone and not lag the hell out of the cities. Make it a No Magic Zone" similar to MoP so people don't use it as a raid gathering spot.

I realize this breaks away from RP a bit, but in light of the serious lag problems as of late it may be a decent fix.

This gives people quick access to a trade spot as well as frees up Athica and SNP somewhat. Because if the listing system goes those two zones are gonna hurt.

How much lag would bringing back the old player vendors generate as opposed to the current listsold/view/add/ect. system?

I miss those vendors. :(

Sounds reasonable, though it would more then likely congest athica or SNP w/ auc spammers....oh well not much different from now i guess
