Hello all. Probably nobody remembers me, which is because I only played here for a short time in 2009 and pretty much solo'd. Anyway, I've gotten pretty bored of the WoW grind, so I'm here. I just had a few basic questions about the state of this server to decide whether it's worth getting into or not.

1. I noticed that this game has been active since at least 2005. That's 7 years now. How's it working out? If I were to get max level, would I have a shot at grouping with others fairly quickly (within a few months), or would it take much longer due to how long the game has been around?

2. Are players generally socialable/friendly? (Is elitism an issue?)

It's really between SoD and P1999. I like AA's and the custom content, so I'm leaning towards here, unless it's "too late" to reasonably start up a character. I plan on rolling a Ranger regardless. Any help would be appreciated.

The thing you have to understand about this game, and why in my opinion it is superior to most of the other mmos out there currently, would be the time spent/rewards.

It is relativly easy to get to 65. I mean as a new player when I was first here it took me a week. After that the game really begins, but if you have some time, or are willing to be dilligant about what you do, catching up is not as tough as a new player might think. There is TONS to do here with exp and it all gives great noticable bonus to your toon. If you have play time raiding is always an option, when I started and joined a guild I went from practically nothing to alot. You get what you put in/what you make of it.

Elitism ends up being something in every game. Here there are some, but most others just play with whoever is cool/can push buttons. I remember starting and having some of the high end people jumping in game because of my forum posts and questions and reaching out and doing things with me. So dont feel discouraged because you are a new face!

I've been trying to get on, but I keep getting error 1017. I've read that it's due to latency issues (which there are none on my side, I have at least 14mbps). I've disable my AVG, disabled my firewall, re-installed my EQ Titanium and patched it through the SoD patcher cleanly.. Nothing. :(
 
Ive never experienced that, try posting in the technical area maybe someone has some better insight there.
 
I would definately say come here... There payers here are AWESOME, and are very socialable. There is always some discussion going on and many of them involve the AWESOME GM's. I have played EQ Live, WOW, GUild Wars, and several others and I have never seen a group of players and Staff that is here for "The Fun" and comradery (probably spelled wrong) that comes in the "gaming world".

I know I usually have a low and mid level toon that I am working on, and there are numerous high levels working on Raids, and treasure hunts, ect that are always looking for groups.
