Combine gems drop ratio

I request that the drop ratio of combine is being looked into. I wonder why I am the first to request this because it's so obviously totally out of line.

According to our dkp log, we have 32 gems dropped over all so far. We got

  • 17 Plate gems
  • 3 Chain gems
  • 7 Leather gems
  • 5 Silk gems

Fortune favors the diverse? Not in this case, it seems.
I suggest to lower the rate of plate from roughly 1/2 to 1/3, and make the rest drop with same chance.

Thanks for reading.

I don't know exact numbers, but I do loot for Steel, and I can say with confidence that I think the drop numbers are fine. When looting gems never once did it cross my mind that midnight pearls or any certain type drop too often. In fact, we've had about the last 9 peerless gleaming pearls "rot" in the last week or so and we're still looking for several more peerless midnight pearls for big pieces (leg / arm / cloak).

I think combine gems are an extra bonus to doing trash in IP/OP and once you start doing the dragons there (have you done any of the dragons?) you'll fill out.

I don't think the ratio between the classes drops do change with or without dragons. That's what I'm talking about, not the overall amount of drops.

And I provided exact numbers, they tell me you are not that right :toot:

Apparently my months of raiding IP were all in my imagination and the gems and combine armor that my guildies have are not real.

Either the droprates was changed, or there must be only chain gems dropping deeper in IP. Would be interesting to know why that would be.

Do you really not see a disproportion on a 17:3 ratio?

we call it the random number generator.

it can work against or for you.

Though I know the random generator has it weaknesses, I'm pretty sure Plate gem chance is set to 50% in code. Which is way too high, that's my point.

This is too small a sample set to identify any trends. Lately I've seen almost nothing drop for Steel except chain gems and the occasional plate gem. This is like swinging your weapon 15 times, getting no crits, and then claiming that crits aren't working. If you flip a coin and it comes up heads 5 times, does that mean the coin is broken? Post your results when you've had about 100 drop. The numbers will be much more balanced by then.

Yea, what Brandar said. Recently the most common for Steel are Lavastones/Chain, which are the most uncommon for you. It will balance out over time.

You're quite wrong. Plate drops more because it has 5 classes on it. Silk is next at 4, then leather and chain have equal drop chance.

OK if the code is like that, we're maybe just on a VERY unlucky streak. Would still be nice if the code would actually be checked, I'm not 100% convinced

yeah the "code" broke itself magically which is much more plausible than say randomness being random

good thinking

Am I supposed to know who does when and why changes to the code? I'm not assuming the "code" broke magically, I was thinking someone might have changed something ok?

Also, I know that 32 is a small number, but 100 is small as well. We won't get big enough numbers to be sure, but anyway, question "answered".

With a small amount of cooperation with the people farming them it would be pretty easy to attain the numbers for the necessary amount of power you will need to determine any sort of significance.

There are two things on these forums that I am so so so so sick of:

1) People thinking that faction is "broken" because they are trying to get out of dubious and its taking omg more time than they anticipated
2) People thinking the loot code is "broken" because omg i killed this 25% chance spawn 10 times and it didn't spawn

It's happened forever, it keeps happening, and noone ever learns that
1) faction takes time
2) randomness is random

oh hay, wiz, i have lost too many of my last 100 /randoms. In a group of 6, you would think that I would win 1/6, but no, I've only actually won about 3/34. You should recheck the code.

I AM NOT CONVINCED.

you have to look also at how many classes are on each gem

aka

Chain 3

leather 3

Silk 4

Plate 5

In Ruin's experience when gems dropped like candy and now, The drop ratios are just fine. The gem drops go in spurts. Sometimes we got like 5 waterstones in a row, then got none in like 4 trips. It goes in spurts. Next week could be like 17 silks. And i think we probably have the disired ratio of combine gems and classes.

Its like our luck on Farg we get his best loots usually, but get screwed on Ghar (cause of our luck not loot code)

you have to have more than 32 gems dropping to get a good look at how the ratio is. Ratio has always been fine.. just the spurts are annoying. But YAY for random :(

See, today you can add 3 chain gems, Gea. Now my guild please stop blaming me for being pro-gm and telling you they weren't broken :hmph: :keke:
