COI quest- study the locals

So, I'm doing this quest, and I've gotten the message "You have learned everything you can from this creature" for 4 creatures- the kodaiks, the bats, the wasps, and the treants." I reported it all to the dude.

Yet my quest log still says the quest is active! What am I doing wrong?

the journal is bugged and will not remove most quests even after you complete them. yet another diabolical conspiracy hatched by cyzaine
