But tomes quickly become such a marginal benefit that after AAs, having some CoP done is just kinda nice until at least tier 10. Even then, there's really no push content-wise to be getting through them until tier 11+. Once you get past there, though, it's a matter of doing CoP 5, your class tomes, plus maybe 10 others dependent on class to really get you through anything. FWF people did dozens of tomes they didn't need because they didn't have anything else they needed to do, not because their cleric can't live without Tome of Infection Mastery 2.
This boils down into the mistaken idea that you need anything more than starting CoP for any content before Sanctum or later Yclist. Sure, it seems like a steep climb past there, but it's also a decent length of content to consume on the way. It's just not right to make someone done with tomes the standard for newer people to shoot for when content is not set up that way. Heck, Cless is still doing Codices, but it's never been a problem for me.
