Cmal item Rots

Regardless of when cmal 1/2 loot became obsolete I think everyone can agree that except for a few items the majority of it has become hopelessly useless for a majority of players.

I remember playing my first main Morak on this server when it was Winter's Roar and even before he got raid loot the only items I had an iota of interest in were the burial priest wristguards and the gloves, with the gloves being an option only because of the clicky. With the addition of the newer tradeskill items and tmap loot cmal 1/2 loot is ridiculously underpowered for the time and effort spent.

I'll leave it up to the staff on how to rectify this problem whether through changing the items, the drop system itself or a combination of the two. With an ever increasing number of exp dungeons being added in the future this is a very sticky problem, you don't want previous content, with all the effort you previously put into it, to become obsolete but at the same time you don't want to hasten mudflation.

In fairness, they weren't very desirable even before HHK/FR. RSM, EC, Kedge, tmaps, and a couple other places all outclass the set pieces by a wide margin.

Yeah thats the time I was talking about. To specify further, maps were just revamped with the lower tiers added about maybe a month prior, first ruins was still old first ruins 20ish on up with only deep fiends and junk at the bottom, high keep was well, we didn't go there, things like the tiny royal crest etc, just simply did not pop up in auction. For a month or two at least. Robes of deflection could still go for a pretty penny, etc. The only piece really that was any debatable use whatsoever were the boots. I ended up wearing the slippers dropped by a lv 15ish? mob instead at that point when they dropped. These being the slippers to be specific

Slippers of the Captured Breeze
MAGIC ITEM LORE ITEM NO DROP
Slot: FEET
AC: 6
STA: +2 CHA: +3 INT: +4 AGI: +2 HP: +20
WT: 0.1
Size: MEDIUM
Class: MAG
Race: ALL

Now as for the others I ended up wearing I have no idea what they looked like, they're not wiki'ed. Lizardskin slippers or something I think they were called. Off the top of my head 5 cha 3 int 10-15 mana. Went for them simply because of what matters to a mage at that level. Cha and mana. Not hps agi and sta. The slippers from cmal are probably pointwise better. But most of the stats that would be considered superfluous are the ones making up the bulk of the item, with what matters being short. Also the gulf between the two items really wasn't all that large for a 40+ level difference.

Though it has been some time since I've seen any of the pieces so my memory is fuzzy, but I can't recall there ever being a question of wearing any of it for any reason. Some classes fare a bit better though, the cleric gloves iirc were very handy, though some (gloves in general, clicky effects for various classes) are very lackluster.

This is simply a problem of newer one group content detracting from the desirability of the set pieces. They were pretty nice before zones like First Ruins, etc. were revamped to have incredibly nice drops.

Kinda yeah, but before the firstruins revamp etc. But again I'm only pretty much talking about the mage pieces, only ones I can really say I paid attention to ever, most of the others I saw were immediately followed by me typing grats rot. I'm not thinking the rest of the intcasters fare much better. Some of the cleric pieces seemed passable and I think I've actually seen people wearing them, and replacing with raidgear, though I think only legs and gloves. Some things are fine I think looking at the wiki just now, mostly cmal3 pieces, but there are alot of pieces in there that are just plain awful.
