I didn't catch this thread until today, but I thought I'd offer a dissenting opinion. To my mind, it's monumentally foolish to pretend that cmal is some kind of raid zone: for the vast majority of players, it ain't. It's actually somewhat of a popular xp spot, especially when you've got a warrior buddy trying to get his gloves. Squatters should obviously be kicked, but someone who wants a drop from cmal1 boss who's DC'd all the way down there getting punted by a six-man group is just as obviously getting hosed. Cmal has lower-end content for a reason, and lv 65 200 AA+ players are not the only players who matter. Cmal is unpopular as a duoing point for plenty of legitimate reasons, it'd be foolish and unecessary to add a layer of enforcement to that. GMs can tell the difference between squatting and DCing, that's the reason they're GMs. If the DCer is afk for the bathroom or whatever, then it's a judgement call, but lucky for us GMs have that too.
Rab's word is law, mind you, but I don't think it's a very good law. In doesn't really smell like something well-thought-out to me; rather, it seems like a "a while back we had to decide an issue like this, and it sort of became de facto policy" thing. It'll stay that way for now, though; if it changes, you'll hear of it.
edit: Oh and this doesn't mean you should start bringing up past rulings like this is some kind of courtroom. That shit's off-topic. You guys have done a good job so far, dont muck it up now.
