Client failed to work after copying

I was able to get the game to work back at home. So then I decided to copy the game and patcher on my USB stick and play it on another computer else where. But it does not work here.

What happens is, after I input the user name and password, the client just shuts down.

Has anyone came across this problem, or know what might cause this problem? I'm thinking right now that it could be registry related.

Thanks a bunch

yes, I just copied it from my computer to my usb drive and tried to run it on another computer. But I don't have access to my computer right now, so I can't export and import the registry.

I tried the same thing on other games before, and it worked. I guess ********* is special... hehe

I'm suffering a similar problem on my laptop. I can log in as far as sever select but then i crash out with the error message "eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Same message every time.

Let us know how you get on :p

I have just outright copied my directory to various locations including other machines and it has worked fine. There are no required registry keys as far as I can tell. Sorry I cannot be of much help otherwise.

ye the usb works on my computer as well, but doesn't work when run on another computer, this is wierd.

odd because ive never needed registry entry's for sod to work before, only thing is some times some dll files are located on 1 computer in windows/system32 but not on another i found all the ones i needed and stuck them in the sod folder

I think it's because I don't have administrator access on these computers? Or perhaps that some ports are blocked on these.

Try deleting your EQclient.ini file then re-patching. It looks like a .txt with a little gear on the right of it.

Tried and still not working, I have requested that the admins open the ports sod uses, hopefully they'll do something about it. Though if it's not a port problem, then it's computer right problem, I'll just have to carry my laptop everywhere then...

Yea, might be net conn issues. Registry keys arent needed for the EQ Client to function properly.

Anyway of getting around this problem if it's indeed a port issue? I'm at a college, we have campus wide wireless which works with sod. But the on campus computers aren't working for some reason. Other games like runes of magic do work.

hopefully i don't have to resort to carrying my laptop everywhere.
