Cleric soloing possible? Suggestions?

My first character in Live was a Cleric, and I loved him to death. The cool spells (Flash of Light, Divine Aura, etc), ability to buff, heal excellently, etc. But I only made it to about level 16 or so with him. Mainly because, in groups, no one wanted me to do anything but heal. And I also liked soloing, which had become difficult (already). It became clear that the way I wanted to play my character was not very doable. I played some other characters, and soon lost interest all-together. Now, this was years ago, pre-Velious that I stopped playing.

It's been a few years since then and I recently started playing SoD, and I really like it. Enough that I'm a platinum member now. But.. there's one thing I must know. Is it possible to create a solo-centric cleric? Is it possible to solo well with him? I hope sure hope so.

I would assume that to be even slightly successful, I'd have to be fighting undead most of the time, as that's where a lot of the cleric's offensive abilities are focused. Any suggestions on where to level? Offhand I can only really think of Shrouded Isle as far as undead goes. But then again, I've barely scratched the surface of SoD. So, if anyone could give me some ideas of where I could potentially level (from 1-65..or as far as soloing would get me), I'd appreciate it. Any other suggestions about the character are welcome as well. Except suggesting DCing. Heh. I've considered that, but it's not what I want.

P.S. I realize that, in games like these where everything is a certain way, the idea of a soloing cleric might offend some players for some reason. If the thought offends you for whatever reason, don't post in this thread. There's no need to tell me why "it's so wrong!" Though I have a good feeling that you SoD players are more open-minded than the twits I often ran into on Live.

Not well, no. Functionally? Yep, but before you get a summoned hammer and yaulp 5 you'd probably need to stick to undead areas and be a gimp wizard. Leveling up is doable, but you won't begin to get good ratio weapons (ie, priest only weapons) for a while, so your melee will be gimp.

If you have a DS, you'll really be golden, but it's hard to get a hold of those when you're soloing (the potions aren't very large).

DS? Er... Damage Shield? I assume that's what you mean. And yeah, that'd help a bit, but as you said they'd be hard to get from some one.

When i was playing with my cleric (not twinked it was my first char on this server), i did solo a lot, grouping from time to time.

In fact i soloed / grouped up to lvl 20 (newbie area then warrens up to lvl 20 in group)

stayed then 2 lvls in shrouded isles, killing the 2 named ghouls, rooting one, killing the other, zoning, coming back to kill the other, camp broke :)

edit : i went a little to the temple of yaralith up to lvl 24 if i remember well...clearing just entrance mobs and all the ones
after the first big door in the little courtyard. (just have to harmony or root to break them all, as they are all pretty
close to each other and come 2 by 2)

Then i came to Sundered Mountains and found a camp where i soloed up to lvl 24 and then another in the icy part of the zone up to lvl 28, careful for the wandering yetis though...they killed me 2 times. (the 2 spots i found are not undead ones...i was still using my non-undeads at this lvl like Wrath...first spot is a camp of werevolves along the river, these mobs are slow and if you're in bad health you can still run to warpstone caverns, i myself did that to break the camp when harmony failed, pulled all 3, ran, at good distance rooting, then zoning in warpstone, then coming back to kill the rooted one while his 2 friends were backing up at the camp).

Then i went to Kaladim where i stayed a lot ! soloing entrance mobs, 1 after one, then as i was leveling killing some more ghosts, the
ones after the right tunnel (including the named who drop shoulders of blessings and book), then some after the left tunnel, then trying the other zone when the first was overcrowded.

Then as these one were becoming light blue, i went to the warrior's guild, invisible and appearing in the 4 warrior room on one of the warrior, engaging immediatly, then medding at the same place, watching the other 3 mobs, but as their aggro range was not wide, i
could kill them one by one, by rushing on them.

Then some rooms nearby, the ones were there was only one mob...and then coming back to the warrior's room for new spawns...
(i was binded at athica bank, was looting all the weapons for money so i wasmoving extremly slowly lol...then gating to sell)

I think i stayed around 12 lvls in this zone...hitting the "old zone experience penalty"

Then i went to the Bad Lands in the Greater Zombie Camps where i soloed till lvl 45 or so...
the one at the uper right of the zone in Eastern Badlands, not far from the One Eye Zone (in case i had to run)

at each lvl i was practicing all my different weapons (which were not so great...) just hitting the mob, healing myself fast,
hitting, undead dd, healing, hitting...and so on

and when my skills were maxed at each lvl, i came back to root, undead dd, root, undead dd and so on...

of course during all this time...i sometimes...grouped...cause soloing undead even if it's fast xp and not so hard, is really boring on the long run...

and of course i spent a lot of time in the merchant list at the bank to find the best prices available...and it's true that i was
lucky on many cheap items...

as for the FT1 items...i just had the crappy FT1 helm from upper guk, but as i was using it when i was rooting, undead dd,
it was great.

Also Buying Sow potions saved my life many times.

i mainly focused on focus/mind and energy/defense as i was leveling (each lvl 10 points in one)

and then after lvl 45 i can't help...i began to 2box and so hunting in non-undead areas.

Only can say that after Freeport you can hit East Plaguelands? there is a safe spot at the corner of the lake (right side of the lake) you can root / nuke stuffs there whitout adds =). At lvl 65 there are Lightblue/blue mobs there so the exp is fair.
