class populations

There are only a few full-time high-end bards. I can think of 2 or 3 that are still active. No wait..4...Ginam's playing fairly hard-core :)

That said, if all you need is resists or mana regen, you don't *need* that many bards. 1 or 2 on a raid is fine.

But a guild isn't being smart if they don't find a bard for each melee-centric group. Like Zhak said, we seriously up the DPS of the group (moreso for melee groups than caster groups, obviously, even with the relic dmg focus song). Just realize you aren't a DPS class. You do your DPS vicariously, through your teammates. You *extend* the capabilities of your friends.

In short, if you can handle being a good bard, there will be a place for you in the high-end game.

Siquros, did you disable all anti-virus and adware software? Including end tasking the background stuff?

I shut off documents and exe file scanning in AVG antivirus and it immediately fixed it for me, I shut off AVG completely as well..

Runs smooth as silk now

I would like to comment a bit on a few classes. there are all my own opinion based on what i know from playing in EQ Live.

Bards: Great class, their songs which allows them to run super fast is what i like best. In EQ Live, a good bard knows how to "Twist" songs. That means they timed their activation of the song consecutively so that the group will enjoy a constant of at least 3 to 5 songs at all time. It is also understood if there are no enchanters, crowd control might be delegated to the bard, although a bard faces great challenges attempting to control more than 1 or 2. Their songs also stacks with buff spells from the casters, so this class are well loved. On the other hand, i seen lousy bard wannabes that don't twist, dosent play the right song at the right time, ignoring the needs of the casters who needs the mana regen song while trying to act like a warrior at all times. These are the types of bards i will prefer not to group with.

Wizards: Firepower supreme. Thiers is the ability to send the enemy to the grave with different elemental spells. Liken to the Artilery, or Cannons, they have great nukage power, but no healing on their own. The only downside is the Overaggro of the enemy. Casting a spell that hits the foe with unspeakable damage draws attention. And if the wizard gets trigger happy, then he/she is going to die very fast. Without POK, wizards' porting is in demand, although druids has similar advantage.

Enchanters: Fun fun class. The ability to change your form, the spells to do crowd control. Enchanters are great in these aspects. In EQ Live servers, there are groups that won't start without an enchanter. In the high end groups, monsters hits for outragous damage, and without crowd control, tanks type fighters can get killed way fast. Clerics or healers tend to appreciate when the melees are taking it in a managable pace. Enchanters can also charm creatures, and the best part is the Mind crack, or mana regen spells Enchanter can provide. They can also haste meleers, but Shaman have a better haste should levels be similar. Downside is that they have the occupational hazard of dying should they fails to properly mezz the enemies. Mobs tend to hate mezzings, and goes straight after the enchanter with fury. Truely courageous persona needs apply.

There, just a few comments. I understand in WR, spells might have changed, or added. So my opinion above may not be applicable.

My two copper worth.

Shamans can AA slow and slow for 5% more than enchanters, in addition to their epic which increases slow by 5%.

Enchanters can haste better than shamans by 15% eventualy.

It's hard enough keeping the current classes balanced. We don't need another rogue knock-off.

Rogue knockoff? A rogue is stealthy, berzerker runs in swinging -- sure they cant take hits but if played right a berzeker is a hellacious fighter -- and they dont need to be behind the enemy : )

I like berzerkers only because they have good throwing, which for some reason I find really funny. Throwing skill to me is just endlessly amusing.

You needed balls of steel to play a Berserker on Live, the class was so skewed it was painful. Could of been something fantastic, instead it was just rushed beyond all belief...I urge everybody to take a moment of their time to mourn the class that never was. ;(

On EQLive, a decent bard can crowd control 3 easily, and 4 fairly well in a pinch with a decent connection. As of 2 years ago when I left live anyway.

Can't speak for WR for a few (ok, a bunch) more levels. ;)

I wanna make a berserker and get it to level 65 and get it super gear and laugh at everyone because I do more then 5 damage!
