Class defining item quests

I suggest that all classes have a specific quest for an item like Rogues do with the hood. Set in steps of course, with sub quests using their specific class skills and the item being custom designed for their class.

Rogues=+ backstab (hood)
Wiz= Dam Inc or perhaps a + to fire spells or ice or some such (gloves)
Ranger= +archery(bracer)
Warrior= +agro (boots)
Paladin= hard to pick one for them but maybe a super stun on their bash for the end?(helm)
SK= same as paladin, hard to pick one(arms)
Cleric= heal increment(leggings)
Druid= fast cast or increased duration(ring or earring?)
Shaman= inc duration (shoulders)
Necro= + to DoT dam(back)
Mage= + to pet health/strength(neck)

You get the idea. All items be decent for level and be geared to achieve at level 10,20,30,40,50 with incements of 1,2,3,4,5. I am not talking end game items, just something that will help the everyday character get along.

maybe there is some of this out there besides rogue, I have to admit I havent seen everything in SoD yet.
 
I also did not name beastmasters, monks and bards. I cannot just go around handing out all the answers!
 
I love this idea. I'm assuming this idea came from the rogue series of quests that are already in place. I've only done the first 2 parts of this quest, but it is fun to be able to increase an items strength as you increase in level! I would love for these series quests to be added in for all classes eventually. Of course, you can do the Dream quest for nowwhich is kinda the same deal but on a bigger scale.
 
Main quest gives an Aug while I am suggesting an actual item like the rogue quest. =) thank you for reading and responding! 10 people read and 2 responses, I think people like the idea!
 
I think this is a great idea...

Maybe Wiz/Xel could have a contest for say something along the lines of 1000 fame points (or something like that) for some player to write up a quest for his class. Not sure if that's completely viable, as it would tend to lean towards the upper level players who are already in the 50+ stage of the game insofar as knowing content. (I mean, as a 29dru / 27mag I couldn't really come up with steps for the 30's 40's and 50's part of the quests, as I don't really know the mobs / zones)

But I could give a start... of an example...

For newport necros...

QuestGiver No1 (human male, newport sewer, necro guild) says: hail Soandso, so you yearn for the [cloak] that your predecessors used to wear!

Soandso: What cloak?

QG1: Why, the Cloak of Deathly Rites of course... many a necromancer youngling has prayed that he would have the guile and tenacity to attain this treasure. The [path] to obtaining it is long and treacherous.

Soandso: What path?

QG1: First you must be willing to show your resourcefulness and obtain for me the [tooth of a beast], the [blood of a spider], and an acceptable cape that fits you. Give me these and I will fashion you a cloak fitting your standing in the order of necromancy.

Soandso: What tooth of a beast?

QG1: The tooth from the bloodthristy pirhana's that inhabit a lake close by should do fine.

Soandso: What blood of a spider?

QG1: The blood from the frozen spiders of Everfrost (sorry if SoD name is changed, I'm a noob) carry a toxic venom that is very long lasting, and will help me create the cloak you desire.

So our valiant hero goes off to Blackburrow, and EF comes back with a cloth cape, spider blood, and pirhana tooth hands then in and:

QG1: Well done Soandso, here is your Cloak of Deathly Rites! Wear it and be proud of your service, when you have obtained more worldly knowledge, return to me and seek out how you may further enhance your cloak.

QG1: Excellent, the news of your adventures travels well within the guild. The next step in your quest is not so simple as the last I am afraid. I require for you to bring me a [heart] of evil and [fang] of a ferocious foe and your Cloak of Deathly Rites to upgrade.

Soandso: What heart

QG1: The Jack-O-Lanterns of the Shrouded Isle are terribly foul creatures, with hearts of black. The hatred they contain for all things living is well reknowned across the lands.

Soandso: What fang

QG1 The fangs from a noble prince kobold should do nicely I think.

Once again our valiant hero wanders out in the lands and headed off to the Warrens and Shrouded Isle to get his items....

(Do hand in)

QG1: Amzing Soandso! There were many doubts about your abilities from the elder council, but with this feat I'm sure you will have swayed many opinions! Here is your new Cloak of Deathly Rites. Wear it and be proud of your service, when you have obtained more worldly knowledge, return to me and seek out how you may further enhance your cloak.

Just my thoughts on how the Ownership/GM crew and the community could all come together and better the server for everyone.

Curr, you have absolutely captured the spirit of what I was writing! As for not a good job, BS! =D

Only thing I would change would be to add 1 pt ac per level to the necro cloak as well as 5 hp/mana per level of it.

If you have seen the rogue cloak it is superb for a rogue! Custom made to their needs with ac/str/dex/agi/hp and BS modifier and more.
 
ive always been one to support this type of idea but Id like to see it also include a lvl 65 doable low/med lvl raid type loot for each class. But more important I think is getting epics done. Then perhaps this can be put into the game. I do honestly think everyone would prefer epics over this, and the time spent placing these types of quests in and tying them together could be spent creating and implementing the epic.

But hey if the dev team wants to go ahead with this I would say more power to them!

Small suggestion for all classes however is add some effect to them that a 65 is in need of if the quests go that high. For paladins im thinking healing inc 5/6.

I personally wouldn't bother doing that quest. You can easily get duration increment items already. The usefullness is limited. And you can get some very nice shoulders working for dawn orcs. (I would love to have some Affliction Enchancement item, since that's what I'm missing >:D )

Also, putting an item into ring/earring/bracer slot would be overpowered. Not much, but a bit, since you can equip 2 items of such slot. So I suggest they all (if implemented) go to single slot pieces.

Pretty much what you're talking about, but instead of class ability (H2H mod) it gives Recovery. Which can also be considered a class specific effect.

Although I don't see quests like this for every class, I don't really think it's necessary to give every single class a similar quest in a mass of implemented quests (like Starfall quests - where no class gets neglected!) - in part because not every class is represented equally (nor should it be) and in part because I would rather see othe aspects of content looked at.

Quest content certainly hasn't been hurting since Xeladn took over. :hug: Xeldan.
 
Epics are for end gamers. I am suggesting for Joe average who is on the way. End gamers get enough good items they don't need this stuff.

My examples are just ideas. Yes you can get other Items. I am only suggesting an option. Not everyone wants to buy uber item X, some people really enjoy questing. I was not suggesting having the most uber item for the level by any means either. They should be good but not end game material. I would see these items in their 5th stage starting to need replaced and by 60 they should need to be replaced. Also as for the slot, just make it Lore and there is no issue with bracers etc or have a flag mark the char so they cannot redo the quest.

Starfalls cover all classes, yes. And some can be done at level 10ish with help. They have no upgrades and quickly become outdated when you level more. These quests could even be the pre-steps to starfalls. Have starfall items be the 3rd tier of the quest, which then gets upgraded at the 4th tier.
 
Yeah I agree with Danku... they aren't supposed to be epic quality, but they are nice items for people who don't powergame or raid. They can be rarish drops, but they don't even have to be as the end item probably won't compare with what you could buy / loot from more powerful creatures.

I'm not super familiar with level I, II, III, IV, V and where they fit into the SoD community... e.g. should a lvl 40-50 person be able to attain a XXXXX Enchantment V item at all? The quest maker could easily skew the req'd levels / mob levels so as to fit where the player should attain the item. So if UberRaiderX can get him XXXXX Enchantment IV item at lvl 50 then make it so that CasualGamerY can quest it at level 55, or 60.... it's all scalable.

This is the second post in 2 days to neglect bards.... im gonna go cry in a corner... brb...

And quest instruments for bards are super lame unless its an above average drum. We simply do not use the other 3 instrument types much at all.

If this post is taken seriously at all (starfall and future epics? wtf why), make the bard item something with voice mod or stackable percussion mod in line with the other focus effect items in the list.
 
If the staff liked this idea I would be happy to lend a hand in developing the quests if time is a problem.
 
Time wouldn't be a problem really. Since you guys seem interested in more quests of the rogue hood/monk(and warrior) belt nature I'll see about getting some more put in where viable.
