Character help / suggestions

Hi all. So I have been playing a bit and am getting more familiar with SoD and I have to say I love the game. I do have some questions. Let me preface by saying that I played virtually every class pretty well in Eq and played from beginning through Planes of Power so I do have an understanding of class roles, aggro management, etc. However, I am curious as to what character class tends to be most needed or most requested for groups. I really don't have a preference but would like to be able to solo as well as play in groups.

My next question is how do I get a new toon who is a high elf to SoD equivalent of Qeynos? I really want to hunt there for early levels. Please let me know. I plan on starting a real character now that I am more familiar with the game. See ya soon!

Not sure which class is most requested. It is always changing based on supply and demand. I can say that tanks and healers seem to always be in need for groups (this is not always true; sometimes you will see groups short on dps). I have seen shortages of Clerics, Beastlords, Enchanters, Shaman, Wizards. Those are the classes that stand out to me at this time.

Newport = Qeynos here
If you don't start there, you can take the Mansion of Portals to Newport from any town (be careful of monsters).

Clerics are pretty much constantly in demand, by everyone, including guilds. Tanks seem to be often in demand by groups.

Qeynos is now called Newport and a lot of races already start there or nearby. The ones that don't like norame said, you can just get there easily by going through the MoP. But going through that takes some practice. You basically have to avoid all the mobs and learn their patrol routes and stuff.

Necessary classes?

Raids are 18 slots. So its;
-> 3 Clerics
-> 1 of every other class
-> A wild card slot

Basically, the server raid game needs three times more clerics than any other other class. Every guild on the server is either in a state of either deciding if it needs to recruit more clerics (FWF) or is recruiting more clerics (Everyone else).

Bsts are rare and pretty awesome for raids. Take a long time to mature, then become totally completely amazing end game.

Every groups wants a bard. Every 6 man needs a bard. There are lots though.

Shaman start out slow, but become amazing through the tiers and are required by every raid and 6 man.

The best necessary class, though, is the one you love to play and love so much you will play it to end game. The one where when people ask you what class you want to play and you say < my class>.

every guild known to man is looking for a shaman, alot of guilds or atleast in all the ones i've been in run 2 druid 2 clerics and 1 shaman (if they have a shaman)

Thank you for the feedback. I will be rolling a shaman tonight when I get on. Barbarian looks good except for the blindness. Suggestions on race? See you all tonight.

For min/maxing- ogre

But play what you like. The best shaman in the game is a troll, and all the rest are fine.

Just how important is charisma? Wiki says to put most of the points there. Based on that as a primary then stamina, perhaps Vah Shir is best due to the Charisma? Suggestions?

It depends. By the mid raid tiers, almost all casters have maxed charisma. If I could redistribute my stats (as a wizard), I would add stamina since I tend to be under the STA cap at the ultra high raid tiers (funny that I used to be way over cap at lower tiers).

Don't stress it too much, those starting stats wont make a lot of difference in the long term.
