Catacombs Repops

Few scattered points here:

Regarding the "fact" that cata is always deserted: I have been banking on Cata's low camp rate to get exp there for the past week - and invariably, every time I get a group together, it's taken. So I'd say that particularly as the server population increases in average level/skill/equipment, people are beginning to discover what a GREAT exp zone Cata is: and it's not nearly as deserted as you might assume.

So far as ease of relic encounters go, Tarlisha would be the easiest even if she was a little harder than Za'Yth, if only for the fact that you don't have to bring 3x as many people to kill Tarlisha. I personally like the fact that I can get relics without having to form a huge raid to go get me some, so long as I have the AAs/equip/skilled group to do it.

Lowering the respawn would also have the regrettable effect of making it easier to bring in raided bots for alt loot, which has been a sad feature of Cmal: in fact, I would encourage upping the respawn of Cmal save for the fact that nobody would ever leave =/.

Yep, I'd definately say Tarlisha is easier than Zayth or Gnok etc given that the gear/AAs required to 6 man her (even though 6 is the max) is well below the gear/AAs required to 6 man any other relic dropping mob. And, as Allie mentioned, it's easier to get 6 people together than, well, more than 6.

I think perhaps another boost for the items from the first two bosses is in order.

Jontran and Tarlisha are perfectly balanced, but I guess there isn't much incentive to do the spider or sorrows.

One of the very best things about Cata and DHK (two entirely different zones I appreciate) is the respawn times. Yes, it's hugely annoying to completely wipe in either, but both are made considerably more 'fun' by the fact that you're against the clock.

If anything needs changing, it might be the drops from some of the named. If Wiz's looking at that, I'd say the problem's mostly sorted. As far as needing a specific group to do well there... that's pretty normal for anything challenging - you need the best you can get. It sucks for those of us who don't play one of the necessary classes - but, it's a class balance issue, not a zone issue. Changing the zone to suit 'weaker' groups only makes it easier for the 'better' groups (class makeup wise)...

I've spent hours upon hours in cata and cmal3, exp'ing only(cata) or exp'ing and going after named(both). A bonus of cata is you can stay there forever with the respawns and amount huge exp. You can't do that in cmal3 - 1hr-2hrs and you've finished cmal3 and have to go elsewhere (as there'll be no respawns), but you will have done all the named (most of which drop 'good' stuff very rarely - usable stuff by the group there at the time even less often) - in cata you can chose: make a run for loot, and get great exp en route, or find somewhere snug and pull everything your group's fast enough to kill before repops, and then start again.

These are two of the best zones in the game for grouping (I still dislike HHK, and haven't been to FR more than once, though deeper down it seems to get pretty cool - I still doubt either of these zones will be as great as cata/cmal3). Having said that, please avoid going to either cata or cmal3, tyvm.

Agree.. for the hard to do sorrows, i can just buy some stuff..

It's already been addressed, but i just want take my time to agree.

The respawn rates here are the difficulty. Seeing as tarlisha drops relics, you shouldn't have an easy time 6 manning her.

On another note. Sorrows / spider loots are horrible. We don't even kill them when we breeze through.

Also addressed: Cmal class specific armor is extremely useful. It's not high tier raid loot, but cmal3 bps have effects and (sometimes) clickies that will pretty much make them never leave your bags. Not to mention the gloves.

Also... necro cmal 3 gear does lack stats, truthfully. But the clickie cmal3 gloves make it possible to literally solo anything that doesn't summon, and quite a few mobs at a time, at that. the cmal 1/2 glvoes are pretty useless seeing as the %snare is so low.. but cmal3, man.

My only gripe with catacombs is a core problem with the ahrmoyn spell line.

It seems after all the changes of 2.0, and fd aggro changes harmony seems to get aggro very easily. I don't know how many times I've wiped groups to revived ancestor 5 spawn room because harmony aggro'd on the first cast
