Cause there isnt one?

Tradeskills are an integral part of the game, which require a LOT of time and money to master much less make any kind of profit from it.

Can you say the same for casinos?

IDC about casinos being allowed, if somebody wants to do it, thats their choice. My only issue was the people running them claiming they do it for entertainment, which is what I said in my original post. Quite clearly I thought.

How are the motives of a casino different from that of someone who tradeskills?

At least the patrons of casinos are there to have a good time rather than to buy overpriced items
 
I'd like to make a suggestion to the OP and anyone bothered with the spam. How about A) Making a chat window strictly for auction and/or B) When watching auction for gears, just expand the window. IMO not that much of a hassle.
 
lets not talk about the philosphical ideas behind gambling and tradeskills. As kukov said, if you don't like it ignore it. It's that simple, someone please lock the topic before it gets into a flame war

-Woah, no need to be derogatory.
-If you dont like it, turn off /auct.
-Last time I checked, tradeskillers use anywhere from 4-7 lines on average for their business, I dont see a complaint from you there.
-If you're still having an issue /ignore the person. Although, the 3 people listed as "casino owners" may have something important to say to you, or an item for sell you may be interested in.
-I can understand not wanting excessive spam, a possible solution would be to limit casino /aucts to a finite number of words.
 
Since apparently alot of people are against my idea of casinos having their own channel can the people running casino's shorten the text? something along the lines of "Casino is now open Please send a tell if you are interested" that way explaining the odds won't take up multiple lines. And yes we could ignore people doing casino's but then what if they have something to say? We wouldn't be able to hear them which would then make them mad. I'm not trying to be mean or cause trouble but if people were to limit their casino messages to 1 or 2 lines it would make things alot easier on other people.
 
A simple solution would be to limit the number of characters a person can say in a global channel over some amount of time. Say 200 characters per ten seconds, otherwise you hit a spam filter limit. This would screw up item linking though, so it'd probably have to be different.

Shall the thought police monitor shout and say, too? It's gets annoying in those channels as well, and this slope is rather slippery.
 
This is why the old irc channels were SWEET...

If I could make only one more request ever, it'd be to have those channels back. It was pretty cool being able to talk to people in game even while not in game.

Plus they could have designated a channel for casinos.
 
No additional channels will be enabled for casinos.

I don't care whether they add channels for casinos. I'm of the opinion that ignore works fine and we don't need anythgin extra.

I just wish the old irc channels still worked.

This whole thread just reminded me of them. Back in the good old days when groups were disbanded when you zoned. Hehe
