Can't connect to SoD :(

I'm running SoD without probs on my desktop PC and wanted to install it on my laptop, too, but any time I log on, it connects me to The Game instead.

I'm using Windows XP, got .NET installed. I open the patcher (don't use EQW because I had problems with it), hit "Patch and Run" and it loads The Game's EULA screen and The Game's login screen, and when I enter my login/PW for SoD I get an invalid username/password error message.

I read the following thread because it sounds like the guy had the same problem I'm having, but nothing (adjusting eqhost, making sure the whole path to the eqgame file was entered in the patcher) worked so far:

I adjusted my eqhost file to look like described here:

When I recheck my host file after saving it says:
"[LoginServer]
Host=xp-smitchell:7308
Host1="

Hope that's ok?
Any ideas? Am I missing something totally obvious? :/ Should I reinstall completely? Tried to avoid that up to this point cause repatching all the expansions takes a few hours.

When I recheck my host file after saving it says:

Host=xp-smitchell:7308
Host1="

No.. thats not ok.

Theres no telling what that is, but it needs to look as the one you linked in your post does.

me and my wife had a similar problem , as did my sis in law. they couldnt get it to work right on there computers and it worked fine on mine so we just copied the eq folder through shared folders, since we were on a router. and it worked flawlessly. you could try that. let me no if it work for you
