Cannot see new portals

Have tried everything i can think of.
Evironment Particle effects:High
Spell Effects:high
On For: all spells
Opacity: tried all levels
Level of detail on
Sky: complex
Both Clips at max

I can see my own casting effects but not anybody elses.
I've tried repatching. Relogging. Just about everything i can think of.

if anybody has any idea's let me know.

It sucks running around and zoning randomly cause i hit one of the new portals i cant see.

I didn't know they're supposed to be visible :) I guess I don't see them either. Just as above, I play with all possible graphics turned on.
 
Same problem for me, I figured it was becauseI'm playing with an ancient ATI card.
 
tried it.

I can see spell effects that i have casted, and those from Items and fire from torches. Just not from other people's casting. Which also effects the portals so it seems.

Still blind to the portals!
 
Does it matter if you are using new or old spell effects perhaps? I'm on a very old ATI card myself but using old spell effects and can see the portals just fine.

In the Options (Alt-O) -> Display window there's a drop menu that allows you to select which spells you wish to see. Your setting now probably is "mine only". Change it to "all" and it should fix your problem.
 
As a question, do you happen to see target rings? Are the spell effects and the target rings related at all, since some people can't see the rings either? Maybe a fix for one will fix the other too :)
 
Chances are if your 3d targeting ring doesn't work, the portal graphics won't either. Neither work on my laptop ... which I know laptops have had that as a known issue for a while, even Sony admits it. Yet on a spare desktop I have, both work.
 
Same issue here.. can see ring, have all effects on, can't see portals.. hard to find little bags in zones, and keep falling off boat. Giving up trying to get the things for now and will either run everywhere or just tradeskill if guild isn't offering ports. Hopefully by my next day off there will be some suggestions how to fix it.
 
At one point you had to turn it on in your ini file, since changing it in options didn't work. No clue if it's still like that (but try it).
 
Is there any possibility that the spell effect for the portals could be changed to something else? It's quite a hinderance for those of us that can't see it. The only time I've used a portal so far is when I accidently walked into it not knowing where it was.
 
Checked ini files. Wasnt really sure what to look for, or expect. But i did find ,ShowSpellEffects=1, which i assume is on. Still cannot see anything.

If you can provide a little more to what ini file i need to look into and what needs to be changed, i would gladly try it.
 
I know this is a bit old, but are there any new solution ideas for this? I have all graphics turned on, spell effects for everyone, etc., can see target ring, but can't see portals.... I hate having to run around until I accidentally hit the right area to zone.
