Can anything be done about this listsend deception?

I have an active WTS thread over in the auction forum: http://www.shardsofdalaya.com/forum/index.php?topic=13967.0

Now, like most sellers in that forum, I was willing to listsend items over to players if they were not able to log in and purchase them directly from my listsold. Yesterday, someone posted that they would like to purchase an item of mine and asked me to send it over and I did so. However, someone browsing my thread took it upon themself to take my sale and send their identical item over at the exact same price before I had the chance, effectively pretending to be me.

Can anything be done about this? Not only did this royally piss me off but they could have negatively affected this buyer's reputation when I commented on their /cm listreject just hours after asking for the item.

It's a crappy situation and a majorly dick move, but for the staff to do anything, they'd basically have to set up a little police force. It sucks, but there's no feasible solution. Any way of addressing it would require a huge amount of time and effort, investigating and verifying.

I don't know of a good solution, although one option, if the admins will allow it, would be to start a list of known dickholes who do this kind of stuff so that people can refuse to do business with them if they so choose. That might be too much of a flame magnet, though, so it may be a no-go.

Couldn't the person who was tricked take screenshots of the two sellers sending them the same item at the same price? This way the we'd have something solid to look into. Maybe the GMs could give jail time to people doing this if screen shots were provided?

while its sleazy, its nothing that should be bannable imo. If i let the world know that I want to buy something from someone, and someone else gets it taken care of before me, then grats them.

if you want to really avoid this, then tell people to send you a PM on the forums to buy stuff.

Yeah, while this is pretty much the dirtiest thing ever, I don't think it should be punishable. Not to mention actually trying to police this properly would be too much of a burden on staff.
