[BUG] Melee stops when equipment with an instrument mod is changed while combat

When you switch out instruments as a bard while u melee, your swings stop for a moment (seems like its a tick). I found that bug while switching out my concubines veil for mask of anos to click it, just to notice that half the masks buff was wasted due to this melee stopping.

I tried it with non-instrument equipment and that works normal, just stuff with mod is affected.

Dev-Cyzaine told me ingame that its most likely just a coding bug, hope you can look into this and fix it =).

This is actually intended, and was implemented some time ago when it was found some bards were swapping in gear for the 1 tick that the corresponding song was landing and then switching back better dps gear afterwards - which process the bard modifiers are not balanced for.
 
I believe this is in on purpose to prevent bards from meleeing and switching in an instrument between dot ticks.

Hmmm ok I see. I also used to switch instrument while twisting string/brass songs at lower levels for AE kiting before i got worn mods, but do or did people do that actually while meleeing?

I wouldnt have noticed this at all if it wasnt Mask of Anos (ultra short overhaste buff) for my wind mod Concubines Veil - and in that particular example its soooo bad to have this melee stop you can imagine ... wasting half the mask of anos buff and loosing melee too totally for that time.

If switching out mods is not intended while combat (it doesnt stop or alter songs btw, just stops melee it seems, so you still can switch ur lute and horn for ae kite) could it maybe be changed so that this "melee stop" only occurs when you actually upgrade one of your mods during the switch?

Once you use worn mods this melee stop system becomes pretty useless too imo, tell me two mod items that you would actually switch out in the same item slot (i mean worn instruments) to gain their mod for just a tick. If there are any, they are not highlevel for sure.

Even in lower levels i never actually meleed while switching out mods only for ae kites its beeing used - was it actually abused? I cant imagine.

Can it be this "nerf" was implented before melody system, when you still could use different instruments for beneficial songs when you had to manually twist them?

Please have a look if this is really needed, so rarely you switch out mods while combat and at high level with worn mods not at all. Its more of a bug or "nerf" or whatever you want to call it than a prevention to switch out mods imo. And for my example its really catastrophic to lose melee combat when switchin in mask of anos omg.
 
Since this was implemented I have disputed that it is simply not needed, and the times bards can actually "take advantage of it" is very rare. Most bards were too lazy to swap wind mods for their nukes anyways, so this change affected about .1% of the population. Now with all of the worn mods, this change basically prohibits bards from using clickies or swapping tank weapons (if using a weapon with an instrument mod).

Edit: Also, I think for some reason the staff thought bards were swapping actual instruments while using melee. This would be so time consuming and inefficient, that the bard would be better off just using the instrument (since bard mods are checked every tick, and dots would only be affected if they ticked while the drum was on).

ok i see now why this was implemented, you could switch in wind mod or so just for a short moment (if youre not a lazy ass like me hehe)... but i doubt anyone would really do that.

If you still think that this is needed, could you please change it so that when you UN-EQUIP mods that this stop doesnt occur. Why would melee stop when you DOWNGRADE ur mods?!

back to my example with mask of anos: I cannot switch it in without melee stopping, even if i dont reequip my wind mod mask afterwards, and this cant be truly intended. please have a look at this.
 
I agree that it should only be when you go from a lower mod to a higher mod, but I still believe it should be removed altogether.
