Blood Ritual - Shaman tome

Dalayan Pious Diety
I am the only shaman on the server who has been able to complete all ranks of Blood Ritual. For those of who do not know what this tome does is that its basically a life trade off for either a heal or increased dot damage.

"Grants an endurance-reliant stance (/s 4) in which the Shaman's DoT spells are amplified by 15 / 23 / 32 / 40% and direct healing spells are amplified by 10 / 15 / 25 / 33% in exchange for 20-to-30% of the Shaman's maximum HP per spellcast."

In its current state this tome cannot be used by anyone. Fully buffed any time I cast a spell using this stance will take 2728 damage. All this tome is doing is penalizing you for getting better gear since its percentage based and not an actual number.

My recommendation would be to have it scale but with exact numbers. Rank one would take 400hp, 2 500, 3, 600, and 4 700. Not only will this not penalize a person for addtional hp buffs and gear but its something manageable that even low end shamans can use without being completely destroyed.

As a T9 shaman with only the 1st tome of Blood ritual completed, I can confirm at this stage it's pretty much useless as well.

This tome is downright awful. I don't think this is usuable outside of like plaguewinding down green cons, because the damage it deals to yourself is entirely too high. Fights deal entirely too much damage to ever risk doing 2.5k damage to yourself. Hell I am afraid to canni V on many fights because of the damage it deals, let alone another 1000 damage just to over heal a bunch.

And it's not like dotting on raids is a thing shamans do, so you can't even pretend like that's the reason this tome is garbage.

It really should be replaced with something useful (A passive % reduction in mana cost on heals, or passive % increase on throughput on heals would be awesome).

Or, not not penalizing you for getting better gear. The double negative here is important, fuck you English majors. My guess is that just about any cleric or druid would gleefully trade their bash/bee tome for this risk/reward thingie. Besides, useful class tomes are sooo 2010.

if the damage applies before the heal hits, I guess I could see myself using it on group heals as a cleric, but even that'd be of questionable usefulness. I consider this tome to be among the worst in the game.

Manual of Condemnation is undoubtedly the worst class tome in the game - providing close to zero benefit, a bonus 380-400 damage in around one in twenty bashes, or slightly more than 1.2 dps at Rank IV. Force of Body is next, but since it USED to provide ~60 dps, it isn't quite Manual status yet overall, but at this moment it at least effects the last kick in the lifetap combo. So yeah, it's pretty useless. Next up I'd say is this tome, because it's essentially a copy of the shaman runic 2 which is already the worst runic 2 in the game, talk about learning from your mistakes?

I'd love to see Shaman R2 and this spell changed. Shamen as a class don't really need a ton of help - top guilds have even learned the value of running two shamans in an ideal group, often in favor of running no druids, a class that provides little more than the admittedly very important sta regen spell.

if we want to keep it simple, you could make the shaman R2 like the old druid runic - a heal that applies a 2/3 tick HoT (SONG WINDOW) that they can weave in rather than Woundbaning forever. Combine Acumen/EoT/EotW into one relic, make the left over relic a new pet that applies a small slow/cripple/malo but does reduced damage, in the same vein as ranger bird to make them a more effective exp class. Remove ATK speed debuff from Runic 1 because it doesn't work properly - it also removes haste for the duration, effectively making it a 119% slow with GoE/Fiery, making it nigh-unusable by melee. Leave the snare. Add an attack debuff if you are dead-set on giving it a melee penalty, but I am dumbfounded at this games desire to penalize melee. I'd rather just see the heal amount dropped a tad - say to 425 (from 500)

As for the tome, I actually like the idea of every healer having a stamina draining tome. Something like an exhausting stance that make druid hots targetted AE's or a cleric stance that turns them into some sort of avatar of destruction, giving overhaste and a DD proc that applies a debuff on undead that allows them to be crit by anyone.

Blood Ritual already has most of the work done though. It just needs the hp drain reduced drastically - down to about 10-20% of what it is now. Or it could be not per spell cast, just a constant hp drain while the stance is active.

one could argue tome of trapping is the worst tome in the game...but since rogues already get 3 other baller ass class tomes nobody currrs

This all makes entirely too much sense.

Like the general tome idea and like the cleric idea. If Druids and Shaman could get something similar in the ass kicking department that would be swell. Even the crappy tome in this thread might be serviceable if they cut the healing, cut the self damage, and maybe increase the damage bonus depending on how long it lasts. Give healers the chance to pump out some dps with the endurance bar- yeah!

Druids sh/could get a tome that allows them to have X more frogs out for a short time. Then the bees on dots should be replaced with frogs. Self/group wolf illusion should also be changed to frog illusion. Spirit of the [frog] mother, too. Then all frogs should be reclassified as toads. All hail the hypnotoad.
