Okay, I'm a casual player, never going to be in the raid game, and never going to farm enough cash to buy a charm with truesight or something on it.
Usually I lurk, but want to post this.
I have a human mage, level 18 right now. Yes, I know it is not too late to remake him, if that sort of comment gives you your jollies. Feel free to input "It'll take you all of two hours... blah... blah..."
Here's my point.
Basically I can summon a wisp and heatstone to help with vision. The wisp only works when it is equiped, not from an inventory slot. Some items will provide light from an inventory slot, the cleric halo of light, and a greater light stone to name two.
The problem with the heatstone is that it takes up an inventory slot. Arms, neck, range (maybe a prim/sec, not going to look it up.) Basically only 3 races (human, barb, erudite) need this item, but if you do it takes up an inventory slot that wouldn't need to be occupied if you were a different race.
When I can summon an ultravision item, the wisp thing won't matter, but it will still take up an inventory spot.
I'd like to suggest two things:
1) Have the summoned wisp be redone so that it provides light from an inventory spot.
2) Have the summoned vision items have the be redone so they will provide the effect from the ammo slot (if that is possible; I think I had some weird item on live that gave stats on that slot, it was some dart summoned from a clicky that was not no rent; was on Firona Vie btw). I'd hope the later ones like the deep shard work the same way.
Also add the ear and ring slots. Why the heck not?
Some might say that poor vision is one of the balancing features of the game. Since the races mentioned are all poor choices for any class (as I've found out since I've read a bit and played them) except for the erudite, I don't think this is a good argument.
It may not be possible with the coding to have the items work from an ammo slot. If so I understand, but hope it is possible.
I guess the vision items could be clickable like the enduring breath and levitate items, but having it wearable is kind of a magician thing in my mind, after playing a mage on live.
Thank you.
