Big-ish EQ2 changes

It's interesting to see the changes they're making to EQ2, and the changes that are taking place here. Disclaimer: I never tried EQ2; heard too many bad things about it before I got around to it.

They had the online trading requirement. They're getting rid of it in favor of an offline-available trader. SoD has the offline-available trader. SoD's going to do something to it (exactly what is yet to be announced).

They're getting rid of corpse runs. SoD got rid of corpse runs.

I love the author's summary, and think That Company should quote him for their new tagline:

EQ2: "it’s a game that doesn’t suck anymore"

Interesting read. I was one of the many people who entered Norrath on its first day open (minus the beta play that I participated in) and after about 3 months I left because of the horrible gameplay and the fact being a solo'er was out of the question for nearly 80% of the game. After reading this, this actually makes me want to give it a second chance and give it another looksee. Thanks for the read.

Yea! I saw that too and LOL!

In any event, I never played EQ2, and even after reading this article I really have no desire to. *shrug* I just don't care to line the pockets of a company that clearly doesn't give a crap about anything other than making money,. Even if the gameplay truly "doesn't suck anymore", I've found my new crack and I'm sticking with it! *grin*

Thanks for the read Kyosho. :)

Played eq2 for 9 months or so, it did indeed suck and nothing in the article or on sony's eq2 forums would make me think it wont still suck.
Dropping expansions every 6 months doesnt impress me when a game is fundamentally flawed. The tiering system is the worst thought out design I have ever had the misfortune of playing.
For a game that touted its superior graphics engine one would think they would make armors and weps that look sweet.....instead you get big ass oven mitts for gloves and your lvl 50 armor looking EXACTLY like your level 20 garbage.

It seems to me sony is up to the same old tricks.....release a shit game, try to fix it half heartedly, release expansions, revamp everything (swg anyone?), release more expansions, fix minor annoyances without addressing the underlying issues....blah blah blah

Fuck Sony.
Really, these asshats ought to be bannificated from ever making another mmorpg.
:finger:

....continue rant

Crafting is a joke, mind NUMBINGLY boring, raid encounters (w/ few exceptions) are just jousting/range fighting, loot is all around horrible and inconsistent...unles you consider getting worthless wood chests instead of metal chests consistent.....which by definition I guess it would be, but anyway. Travel is meaningless, the world seems about as big as a tuna can, zone layout goes from almost good...to flat out retarded. Death is a joke, no real penalty for dying whatsoever.

And they keep dumbing it down, making it easier. WHY? To appeal to WoW subscribers? Guess what dumbasses, if peeps wanted to play WoW they would...and DO. Making EQ2 more like it just cheapens the experience for those who didnt want to play WoW and bought EQ2 instead.

Playing eq2 is like fucking a fat girl, you only do it when there are no options.

Thank god for SoD!!! :D

I'm unsure about anybody else here but to be honest I'm not sure why I should care too terribly about what soney's doing. Well there is the exception of wondering why, on the face of things, sonyseems to be emulate the SoD development team's changes to improve play experiance.

However, if you want a game that is making leaps and bounds and isn’t afraid to change in order to get into your wallet, EQ2 might just be for you.

Corrected. :p

I still maintain they should just fire their designers and hire us. For all their games.
