Basically, SoE decided that instead of fixing problems with other classes, a good amount in Rangers, which are now admittedly broken by SoE, they took everything that was desired in a DPS/tank class, and created the Berserker, what a ranger should have become, in parts.

~nods~ SoE actually admitted it. They said that upon evaluation, rangers as a class were undeniably broken in the grand scheme of class balance. What's even sadder is that the changes they've added to rangers since then were 2 more snares that were worse than the AA snare, and their heals were increased, however nearly every class's heals were increased, so the brokenness remains.
