Bard swarm kiting

You can only have two offensive songs on at a time, so technically, you could pull 8 and kill them off one at a time... but why not just pull one at a time?
Charm is rough, and with only 2 songs, AEs don't provide enough DPS (AE snare and one AE dmg is so much less than doing 2 single DoTs).
 
Also, unless I'm mistaken, there's a cap to the number of mobs you can hurt with a song at a time. I think it's 6, but don't quote me on this.
 
Your best bet would be to kite 2 at a time once you get 2 single target dots since you can keep 2 DoTs (you get your first good single DoT at 38 and another at 42 iirc) on both mobs at all times. AE DoT is possible but I believe there are only point blank ones (or close to) so it is risky and killing 2 mobs is not as dangerous and very efficient.
 
What class should I 2 box my bard with, then? Since the songs auto refresh, I guess they're more 2 box friendly than before. However, I've never really played a bard, and I haven't played EQ for about 3-4 years; I don't know what class would work well with my bard.
 
bards work really well with just about any one... although i wouldnt play him with an enchanter because of spell effect overlap. Are you looking to be independant as a duo? Or are you looking to be an asset to groups and raids?
 
A cleric might get you pretty far, at least until the higher end. As a bard, you still have to manually twist for maximum efficacy in your offensive songs, which makes it hard to DC easily; and at higher levels it's actually much better DPS for you to kite mobs, which of course is almost impossible to DC easily.

So, you'll get some pretty good mileage with a cleric. If you feel you can play two kiting characters at once (and well) Necros make EXCELLENT bard companions.
 
To be honest, I don't think bards are good to DC with. I think honestly mages are one of your best bets...can let the earth pet tank and have the bard stand behind him twisting slow/dd. It would be tough without heals for bard, but it's fun. I never realled duo-ed for exp, but a good group would be faster IMO. The problem is that bards don't excel in any one area whereas with a shm/tank you know what you going to get.
 
PBAE kiting is really easy, not risky at all once you get the hang of it and can compensate for lag on the fly.

I've been doing it for.. 20ish levels without a hitch, using it to complete quests with mobs that are far above my level by sheer attrition and patience as well. :D
 
I kyte all the time with my bard and duel my wifes necro alot to clean up the mobs when im done.

8 or so mobs at a time that are white yellow and red works pretty well.
