Backstab Damage, nerfed ?

Is it just me, or has backstab damage been nerfed ? I parsed the damage before and after the supposed nerf and it seems that backstab is only doing part of what it used to be doing in regular combat. I know there was a nerf for pvp (backstab is only 66% as damaging). I'm just wondering if this nerf is a bug resulting from the PvP nerf or if it was an intentional change.
 
Here's the scoop on backstab. It was indeed, changed for PVP. In the same patch, there was a fix for skills being retrieved at a higher value than they were being set to.

Apparently, this included backstab, so the fix "nerfed" backstab, as it was stabbing at too high levels due to the extra skill.

No, skill mods still work. He doesn't mean that skill mods were giving too much damage, it's just that backstabs were retrieving a higher value all around. Skill mods will still increase the effectiveness.
 
Look at it this way: Your Backstab skill is 250. However, the server thought that this meant your Backstab should be calculated as if it was 350! Now it's back down to earth and calculating your 250 skill as 250.
