I can't get around the "Bad Username/Password" error when attempting to log in to the WR server, anyone having the same problem or know how to fix it?

Edit: Everything was installed and extracted according to the guide.

bad username / password is 1 of 2 things...

your user / pass didnt go threw on the wintersroar site, or your trying to connect to the Live server (or another Emu server)

how are you trying to load the game?

I know this sounds rather retarded, but please make sure your Caps Lock is not on. I've had several friends complain about this error, only to find out their cops lock light on their keyboard was broken. ;)

hmm, well caps lock is most definitely not an issue. I waited about 20 minutes to let my account login info go through the system, and i was able to log into the forums here, so i would think that it should be fine to log onto the server, but i don't know.

2 things i can think of is either login server was down when i tried to log on last night, or i need to reinstall EQ, patch it completely, and then try to install WR again.

I've been trying to load the game through the WR patcher. The error is: "EQEmu: Bad username/password" or something similar to that.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Well, forums log on and Player log on are two seperate accounts. So I'll go through a quick questionaire with you.

A.> Are you running a firewall that blocks any of the ports that WR uses? (Windows XP has an embedded firewall.)

B.> Did you register a SERVER LOGIN account with WR? (There's a link on the Startup Guide page.)

C.> Caps lock? Sticky Keys? Filter Keys? (Sticky and Filter keys are windows "utilities" that are annoying as hell.. some of them come on if you press the Shift key 5-8 times repetedly, or hold down on it for 5-10 seconds.)

D.> Check server status in the IRC Chat. Server: irc.eqemulator.net Channel: #WR

If your answer is suitable to all of those, and you STILL can't log in, I'd trie reinstalling, repatching, etc.

Ok, it looks like the problem was the login server registration. I haven't had a chance to try it yet(still at work), but i created another one to see if that will work. I had created just a forums login before, and i thought they were the same.

When i created a server login name and filled out the information, i didn't have a referral name so i just put "n/a" and it told me the name was accepted but the referral process wasn't able to complete and that i would have to contact someone. Will that keep me from being able to log in also?

answers for your questionaire:

A: was on, turned it off and still didn't help.

B: read my previous post about this.

C: I've had all of those disabled since windows was installed, hehe. i hate em also.

D: didn't check the server status before, but i'll keep an eye on it if i have problems again.

Thanks for the help btw, i'll try again when i get home and see if i can get it to work.

Also, another thing you might look at, if you use a DSL modem/router then sometimes those have built in firewalls as well that you should be able to use a web interface to configure.
