Assassin's Tracking?

Im not sure if this has been brought up yet. But would it be possible to add a very very low tracking skill to rogues? Either at a very high level, or an AA ability? Something just good enough to help them follow something or locate a mob close by, not anywhere near as good as a ranger or druid.

I think a rogue should be able to track a victim, we are assassins after all aren't we?

I haven't put a whole lot of thought into any downsides this may have, but i don't think it would really overpower the class or lower the usefulness of rangers/druids.
 
Assassins generally rely on careful planning and a good intelligence network to locate their victims or a place where their victims will be at some point, and are more likely to stay concealed at the spawn point and wait for the NPC to return to it than go off tracking it. :p

Either way, the tracking button and track bar are both clientside, so there's no way to add these to a class that doesn't already have it.

i remember guides used to be able to track no matter what class. but they removed the ability.
 
I agree with viperman. Tracking wouldn't seem out of place for a high level rogue.

Wouldn't it be possible to add the ability to the class serverside, a la the way guides used to have it? It doesn't seem right that the class abilities and limitations would be kept clientside, it would allow for easy hacking methinks.
 
Its probably possible but requires another level of customization. I'm not familiar exactly how to do it, but i imagine its possible. But sadly its probably not worth the trouble it will be to add it in.

As useful as this would be pulling in huge open zones to give me a slight idea where to go, and to assist with mobs im looking for in small caves etc, I doubt we will be getting this any time soon.
 
There is a way to get the "skill" button from any or all classes, this is the way : you make a char (like a monk) and call it blahblah, then you bind mend to a hotbutton and save it to a one key klicky thingy on your left side. Then, delete char (OR go to a other server) and create a char with the exact name (in this case blahblah) and make it lets say a warrior, now this warrior will have the mend hotkey, in a prev vertion of eqemu a war even gained skill in mend, so on one server I had 100+ skill in mend with a war :p
 
If it is possible, then I would still definatly love to see this put in. Wether I am using good intellgence or not, things could always go wrong and tracking down a running victim is important imo. If you know how to kill someone as well as a train assassin does, you are going to have at the very least, some skill in tracking.

All im asking for is like 10 skillpoints max or so in track. Just to see a short distance around you. Not far.

There's no way to do it except the hack-fix way that was described.
