As far as I can tell..

In regards to quests and their viable use as an alternative to grinding, you have to understand the system was just overhauled recently(Friday) to allow us to increase exp rewards without having to worry about bad abuse.

From here out quests will offer fairly nice exp rewards, but good luck if you don't have the patience to wait on that a week or two.

I actually agree with the pet running thing. Rambler doesn't play a pet class and doesn't rely on his pet like some people :)I actually usually cast perma SoW just because my pet can't keep up with my duo.

As for the main post. I think you should have stayed on WR, and actually posted your post in the suggestions thread. Your forum account says new user, meaning, you can't typically say that some futures promises won't be met. You'd be really surprized at how fast the devs put stuff in, listen to suggestions and actually follow them through (usually might take some time because A. It's free B. Wiz does an incredibly insane amount of stuff as it is, so there is a huge list of things to do). Also, compared to live, Wiz doesn't do this for money, and doesn't cater to us, and try to keep us longer so we will continue to pay, so, yeah. He's not some evil money making corporation. WR is constantly going through changes and getting better and better.

I also don't imagine Wiz intended this to be like "old" eq, so stop expecting it. The main WR saying is "This isn't live EQ". Perhaps he has some simularities, but he is not basing his ideas upon old EQ.

Alot of points you made are pretty valid. However, goodbye, and sorry you didn't give it more of a chance. And yeah, definitely a great suggestions thread. :brow:

Mages get at least 2 pet sow type spells and Beastlords get SoW. I wish they could be cast in dungeons but I guess it'll give those classes a reason to get perma if they need it that badly.

Behave. And yeah, Rambler, most of the issues you're whining about him mentioning sound at the least worth investigating to me.
I suppose. I take the game for what it is, and expect nothing to change. Instead of complaining and whining, I just make due and get 'r done in other ways. I apologise for telling someone to f off when the game is, in my mind, perfect.

Oh, not sure if it's meant to be this way, but if you cast spirit of scale (group version) it makes your wolf pet run INSANELY fast. While yours gets clicked off after doing anything, the pet's will stay for quite some time.

I care, and I am sure other pet class players care. What I don't care for is the FOH board style dissing and swearing.

It's actually quite humourous you mention that, now that I think about it. A bunch of us led by Aychamo migrated to his new forums about three years back now, and throughout the years, the same central core of people and mindset exists under the name and domain, www.postfarm.net. Feel free to visit for more dissing and swearing, name calling and photo shopping. You won't be disappointed.

Or you could realise that, by chance, people actually swear outside of the FoH forums, and that my comment in no means was a diss but an observation that I think people just complain too much, and the GM's, including Melwin, take their complaints to heart too readily.

On the pet speed I still remember being a lowbie Beastlord back in the day on Live .. and the lower level pets were slower there too.

I mean think about it, the Idea is that as you grow (level) your pet or warder grows with you.

At level 9 (your first warder) it is but a kitten, puppy, cub etc etc. by the time I was 65 minus the patch day screw up that made Stripes the size of a two story house, my warder was a big enough fast enough cat to make Sigfrid and Roy second guess themselves.

You have a few valid points there, but it's all so wrapped up in hyperbole that it's hard to discern them. Regardless, I'll look into them, but certainly not for your sake.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Regarding beastlord pets being slow:

Just hit 30 and got sow last night. Sow'd myself and my pet and did the rather long run across Faentharc woods to Stormkeep. Verified sow via /pet report. I hit Stormkeep and sat for a good 2 minutes before my pet caught up. I'd love it if my pet could keep up with me.

Finally got ye alde WR up and running. and i must say i love it. The pet thing is an issue.. as a necro I cant sow my pet and he are slow. my only other complaint than that is the merchants packing up at night.. i dont mind the long night hours, but maybe a 7-11 could be built in oggok and newport for those that want to do some night time tailoring/gem crafting etc or who just happen to log in at the wrong time and need something.

That being said. I for one, love the zonewide OOC channel, it's like having a chat channel set up, but it'll hold more than 170 people. If you have people who talk to each other and have a good time it makes the game more personal and enjoyable. and people that dont like it can just filter it off and live in their own lonely little corner.

as for the bazaar, i wouldnt mind going back to the bazaarish era, but if possible, imho, even better would be having a designated zone like ye alde EC tunnel where everyone can browse, sell, bitch, haggle, and occasionally train slate to. like the boden, i also made a living on haggling and selling dear.
"randomshammy_01 can i buy that RMB you have?"
me:"yah, but it's the only one i have but i have to sell it cause i need the money, i'll part with it for no less than 600p (which was very expensive on tholuxe at the time)"
Shammy:"well, since you're selling it off your char, i'll take it."
*looks both ways to make sure the shammy's gone, pulls out another RMB out of teh pack* "WTS RMB 600p!"

Just my 2cp

Oddly enough, it was a few days ago that WR was mentioned on the FoH forums, and some of us decided to try it based on that. Its entirely possible some of the population explosion was based on that, in fact.

lol, as if some bolt from the sky, I totally realized why I frequent these boards even though I can't have high-speed at home. Wiz is my hero.

or maybe we're just concerned about fixing things that aren't the way they probably should be NO WAY

What a useless reply. I'm the biggest sceptic of anyone, but you don't have access to either my PM box, the petition commands or the tells/PMs I get, so you don't know what I base my reaction to their complaints on. The fact that I happen to get a lot of independent complaints about these very problems signals to me that there's probably an issue.

Even though your name is Rambler, try to live by this rule of thumb: When clueless, shut the fuck up. That should right about halve your post/day ratio in due time.

Ok, my take on the complaints (not the complainer) and other things:

1. Slow pets -- Annoying at first, but I adapted.
2. Mob range -- I agree, this is a problem. At 7th level, I had a very hard time finding anything to fight; NNewport had greened out, CH was either green or red. I finally decamped to W.Badlands and found some footpads along the north wall.
3. Quests -- no comment, I've only done one. I'm still trying to shake my "must grind" mentality from Live, and get back into my "poke around and have fun" mode.
4. Blame Straha for my arrival, not FOH (and credit him too pls; the website wouldn't take "WTF comics" as a valid referral).
5. Day/Night Cycle -- Too. Damn. Long. A friend of mine had issues with this due to his work schedule; a vendor he needed to buy from for a quest wasn't going to be up for 2.5 hours; he had to leave for work. With a 12-hour cycle, people on an unvarying schedule are screwed; except on weekends they have issues staying on long enough to hit a certain game time. An odd time that would cause the day/night cycle to wander through the real-world clock would be better. At 12 minutes per game hour, a full day will take 288 minutes (just under 5 hours); A twelve hour game wait becomes less than 2.5 hours in real life.
6. Bazaar zone -- Not no. HELL NO. Yes, it was convenient, but something went out of the game; it seemed like less of a community. I'd like to see some manner of "advertising medium" (board, channel, whatever) that the seller could pay plat to be listed on (plat sink to take money out of the economy; see SWG).
7. Slow skills -- Noted that I'm going to have to make time to practice my casting. Did that in EQ too. Just glad I don't have to practice my damn research. I hated that one. The only thing I hated more was the POP/GOD/OOW spell acquisition.

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think of it now.

The Day/Night Cycle is no longer static. If you play everyday at the same time - then you will find that if today is was day when you played, tomorrow will be night. So tell your friend to just log at the same time tomorrow.

1) Fixed
2) Should not be as big an issue now.
3) No comment in return.
4) Indeed.
5) Night/Day isn't static, an in-game day/night cycle is 10 real hours.
6) A trading center where you can barter a few wares for free via NPCs will be made, but no bazaar.
7) Skill gain pre-100 has been increased.

1. Thank you!
2. Thank you again! Noticed it seemed to be smoother, but since I'm in mid-teens now, I had no way of verifying it had changed.
3. Bounces off me and back to you!
4. Yep. First he addicts me to his comic, now this. He's EVIL!
5. Ah, ok. We'd both inquired around and been told it was 12.
6. Interesting. That should help low end players who can't commit to 100p/week.
7. Thank you!

Great game. Wish I had more time to play it, but I have my own project going.

FYI - There is a jewelry (gems and metals) vendor under the Newport docks at night.

Heh, probably a few, that's for sure. I know at one point we had about 15 dudes from PF playing.
