Anything Wrong with the Server?

Been getting error 1001 at the login server on both my computers for the last 4 hrs...server down?

I'm getting the same error, so it's not just you. I'm not sure if there is a way to check server status, I've been looking...

As stated every time the server goes down, IRC your best bet for server updates.

PS: the server is down.

How to IRC? downloaded GAIM as it was listed as an IRC client but cant seem to figure it out

Copy and paste this in your url: irc://shardsofdalaya.com
It should open up your IRC client (IE: I use mIRC) automatically
Then type /nick nicknamegoeshere
To join a channel (IE: the default shards channel) type /join #sod or #channelname

Most likely cause:
Some content or files on this webpage require a program that you don't have installed.

What you can try:
Search online for a program you can use to view this web content.

Retype the address.

Go back to the previous page.

Tried looking under options for anything to do with IRC and im lost, usually pretty good with this stuff but never messed with IRC

It sounds like it is not recognizing your IRC client. Try downloading another IRC program. I use mIRC because it's the most user friendly (in my opinion).

Got it working thanks for the help, awful bunch of quiet people sitting in there. Not supposed to talk there, or is channel just for server status?

Well it was chatty up until just a bit ago. Perhaps people gave up hope for the server coming back up tonight and decided to go out and experience IRL for a night! Also, there are a lot of sub-channels people join for their guilds etc, so I'm sure it's chatty just not where you can see it.
