Shoken Ryutatsu

Dalayan Beginner
I have created a myspace group specifically for SoD players ( http://groups.myspace.com/shardsofdalaya ). So if you have a myspace send a friend invite to www.myspace.com/shokenryu722. For those of you that don't have a myspace or don't know what it is, It's a website where you make a profile of yourself, meet friends, and get to express yourself. Groups are kind of like cliques, except each clique has a forum and bulletin board. I dont know if this sounds like a good idea, but i got really bored and decided to try it.

myspace has to be the worst idea in history =*(

Hi I need friends.... let me go online and find some! horray I have a new high score of friends, lets go out drinking guys! *whaa whaa whaa whaa*

Someone is intelligent! (no sarcasm intended)

Myspace IS THE WORST IDEA to ever come across the internet aside from the other ones such as, Livejournal, Xanga and whatever else they have out there.

I had an abundance of friends tell me to get a myspace going... so i signed up one boring day and decided to put a little work into it... I did the basics and such then decided it was not interesting and all so i gav eup on it. A week or so later I get an email from myspace and apparently a member who knew me. Eager to figure out who exactly the person was and how they knew me I logged on and checked em out.... wrong, they were just going through lookin for people.
I promptly deleted my account and blocked the myspace address from my email.

I could see myself being eager to upkeep a myspace account if i were back in my chatroom days. Being 13 and going to crazy chatrooms on bolt.com with schoolmates and exchanging witty 1 liners with people there was fun and all. And I can see how listing your every detail on a website is useful if you have the inability to express these to the people that matter in a normal way.

I think of myspace as one big chain letter people send you which quizzes you on your personality and youi send it to everyone on your list, and we all know how amazingly fun those are.

I have a myspace to express myself, and thats it. I have few friends compared to a lot of myspace users, but I talk to ALL of them and know them personally. So it's not like Im just trying to grab a bunch of friends.. it isnt a highschool popularity contest.

If you know them personally and they are your only friends that you talk to on Myspace, then why use it for other people to find out about you?

You are ridiculous. I know everyone of the friends on my list. A dozen or so of those friends live in Santa Cruz and were friends of mine in middle and high school the rest are friends in Sacramento and a lot of them i have known since elementary school. Then theres my family members, my co-workers etc. etc. This is a way for me to see what they are up to without needing to email all of them. It's a good reminder to keep in touch with them. If i have a comment i can write one up in a few seconds and be on my way.

I have had a profile been on Myspace since last December.

I have seen people use it to make friends or whatever with their crazyass dumb profiles and 1000 billion friends. I agree those people are idiots, i bet they are idiots in everything else they do.

You make it sound like Myspace assualted you on the street, raped you and made you create a profile with them. If you don't like it don't fucking use it but don't make broad stereotyping statements about people who do.

Myspace is no longer *just* a website. It's an addiction for most people who use it. Some people can't go hours... even MINUTES without looking at myspace and seeing if some other loser posted on their name or whatever to see what kind of emo message was left.

Myspace is worse than when EQ was first released... They already had a suicide note posted on the website... so I guess EQ and Myspace are tied in the race of addiction

But seriously, what makes myspace so much more different than what Xanga or Livejournal could have provided? (not that I use either of them, I just know of them).

If you want to keep in touch with people... this is why we have things like... forums, phone, cellphone, mail, email, ACTUALLY talking to them in person. Why add another thing to a list that isn't needed?

Myspace is just for people who crave attention and want people to know how many "friends" they have. Despite what people say they use it for.

Myspace.com is nothing more than an application to keep track of friends. I might not want to call or bother a friend when hes studying for a final or he is traveling abroad.

I agree that "some" people go overboard and are attention whores.

Using your criteria someone could say "most" people that use IRC or USENET are geeks who live in a basement somewhere. This would be a false stereotype. People come to false conclusions when they don't understand or are ignorant to the application and it's potential.

Myspace is very popular, it has gotten tons of press good and bad. Just about everyone of my friends use it. Now you're basically telling me that myself and all my friends are attention whores who check Myspace desperately waiting for someone to comment on our pages and that is completely untrue.

You know other sites might have tried to provide something similar and better, unfortunately they failed to gain the kind of media recognition that Myspace did.

Not everyone knows how to use a forum. Not everyone i know is internet savvy. It's nice to see what other friends are up to without calling them. You can say you don't like it and that you won't use it and that you disagree with it. I don't agree that you should be bashing anyone who decides that they want to use it for whatever reason they goddamn want to.

reason the internet sucks ... http://fanamorphs.cyoc.net/furrystuff.html

When you get a myspace link, don't click it.
When you hear about it on the news, change the channel.
When you get an email invite, delete it.

and until myspace breaks through your door, puts a gun in your mouth and threatens to shoot you if you don't become a member your argument will still be ignorant.

done arguing my point, carry on ...

People are crazy i c reports in the paper nearly every day that some kid has been kidnapped because they gave out there personal info to some phyco jack ass. And its always linked to myspace...

poeple are crazy and kids are stupid. if there is a site where someone can post their personal information, of course there are conna be creepy stalker people on them. Parents or schools should teach kids to watch out for that kinda stuff.

actaully i hear that the people lie to the kids saying that they are 12 or something. They become the kids so called "friend" and then he starts getting info. Plus the profiles give out alot of info for example ASL etc. they then meet the person and they find out there screwed so yes i agree with you Daelius but lets not start a arguement with the people who disagree with me
