Am I the only one who...

There is one way to deal with mudflation, wouldn't separate players or 'screw old content'. Not many would like it.

Server wipe.

Things have to get bigger and better in order to keep people playing. A very big case in point is Live. Do you really think Live would still be standing today, for 10+ years, if not for expansions? Where would WoW be at? Where would any mmorpg be at if not for new content?

Say, for example, 2+ years from now, after they finish the current stuff on the todo list, Tier 9 guild x sweeps through everything they can and "beat" the game. What then? Quit? Or come out with more content to progress their tier further and keep them around? Is this such a problem? Or is it just the norm? What can you do differently? I fail to see anything but bigger and better working. When you get right down to it, no one plays a game forever. But bigger and better keeps them playing longer. Sure you can always come up with great ideas like the War for example. A lot of people appreciate stuff like that. It's another thing to do with your time. But fact is not everyone is created equal when it comes to desire and some people only live for raiding. When that comes to an end for them it's either game over or new content to keep them around.

As for your idea of a second server.. can the same thing not be achieved by bringing out new harder content on the first server? The mobs on the second server would have to drop upgrades, and even if someone beat SoD on that server then what? Start up a third server, rinse and repeat?

SoD has a lot more going for it than most games. It's not a job for staff. They don't get paid. They really do care about the game's well being. The player base do their share of keeping the game on it's feet too. You just can't ask for more than that.

Then we would be right back where we are now in due time. So, what's the point? You'd certainly keep people playing a lot longer, that is, if anyone were left after the server wipe.

How does new content "screw" old content exactly? I'm not understanding this at all.

Does Stormkeep "screw" blackburrow?
a group of 18s are really powerful in BB with lots of challenges and fun stuff to do. When they're geared in full twink gear, every slot, there is no challenge in BB at all. Thats kinda a problem at level 65, when you can go to enthann and PoWater and gear up just as well/better than you can in DHK/Torment, and then render DHK/Torment, (with obvious exceptions), "screwed".

Of course people always have the option of going wherever they want, but most guilds choose the sure-win, sure-loot strategy.

Again, I don't understand how this is a problem, or how it "screws" anything.

If you can kill things in Valor or Water, then you are advanced past the level at which you are expected to/must kill in DHK or Torment, the same way a character who can raid Stormkeep is advanced past a level at which they are expected to/must kill things in Blackburrow.

What would be the point of playing an mmorpg where no matter how much time you invested, or how good you were at playing your character you were stuck in the same stupid zone all the time dying to the same mobs as level one characters who started that morning? The fact that people see having tiers of content as a problem at all is just completely boggling me.

Also, something I neglected to address from the first post:
think that the codex idea is great, but when you have all of these fellows with max AA's and a codex and they then 1 group the big mobs that it takes a high level guild 18 men to kill, then what? It is an ongoing problem with MMO's, what do you do when you win?
Regardless of whether or not tomes would allow someone to solo a raid mob, which I doubt, why would someone even do that? I don't know exactly how the economy on EQlive worked, but from what I hear, the motivation behind small groups of people killing low-tier raid mobs was so that they could sell the droppable loots. SoD doesn't have raid encounters with farmable loots.

They might as well turn off Classic EQ on live.. thats how dead it is (could probley do it with Kunark and Luclin with out any issues as well).

As far as SoD.. I think they have done a fantastic job keeping things balanced. They have even fixed some huge glaring issues live still has yet the Company refuses to fix becauses its been that way for 5+ years.

About the only thing I can think of I would like to see more of.. is tier1-3 content. However I know multiple staff memebers have already mention there working on it so all is good.

You want bad mudflation... before theey put in the level caps on Vox and Nagfen you could solo them. (at least a few people could.. a certain monk I know)

Thats just crazy to solo any raid mob, thank goodness SoD will never get that way (I hope anyways)

Ya sry it can be done ww dragons are defiantly soloable. Other then bragging rights theres no point to it. also another thing to stop this from becoming live is that there will never be more levels therefor if you want to raid thaz or ip you still have to have a guild go threw the teirs 1 might be skipable but torment dhk air defiantly arn't.

Doh... Guess I shouldn't be surpised after reading about Zhak exploites in FR :monocle:

SoD still rules and the "game" drools.

Of course there is this unavoidable problem with evolution in a MMORPG. But hell I think the staff is managing it nicely. We have a plan of what the server will look like in the future like all deities with a plane and quests, all three factions eventually will have a goal to their followers - heard *possibly* faction pvp , and the NPC in Erimal mentioning the use the three factions - and there is plan for evolution at all levels. The item revamp will make a good basis to resume a sane evolution that will not trample older content like it was said.

Don't want to see what the unused zones will look like ? Mielech Lab, Naghtiliian (? sorry it's late) and prolly more 6man dungeons ? KUNARK ? and if Sanctum is now the cap of what will prolly be the end tier, we already know we're not gonna become Lvl 75 monsters with unimaginable stats. This is clearly not going Live's way.One wonder of SoD is that you're not squeezed by a faster-than-lightning evolving content with 2 expansions per year.

If you're bored or think your char wrote enough of his tale, reroll chars, aim for an adept, learn to play other classes, I dont know but there is so much to do in Dalaya now, while I remember running in and close to deserted cities and settlements (Rivervale Kelethin were empty, a shitload of dungeons were populated and revamped gradually etc...), and many things you do will prevent seeing others ; so try to see al the aspects of the game, even keeping a core of toons you will always enjoy to play.
The end here is not getting the l33test gear around for my point of view, not everything is related to loot and charms. but to truely experience the aspects of the game you like. Personally, the call to Lorebooks from the staff is an incredible idea, people will contribute to the game while feeding on its lore, it sounds so deeper than just a fan fiction. Damn made me the idea to try something about it but I write so bad :/ But yeah tradeskilling, raiding, roleplaying, do what you wish, no one if forcing you either of these ways. If you're really fed up take a break, come back ina while and enjoy the changes, cause there will be changes.

OK fuck this is going everywhere...but I realize why I'm so addicted now. Really enjoy this game and this community.
