AE groups?

I remember having a blast in AE groups in EQlive way back when. I played my cleric.

Now I have a bard / mage 2box and they both have point blank AE damages that I rarely get to use. Both are level32.

1.Where should AE groups hunt? I'm guessing anywhere that doesn't have casters will work. I would like to start creating AE groups, but I do not know where to hunt. I looked for a thread but did not find one.

2.Also, assuming I bring a bard / mage. What other classes should I recruit for my AE groups? Cleric, enchanter + 2 wizards?

3. Stradegy? If I remember correctly, chanter just spams color flux and keeps mobs stuns. Cleric keeps everyone alive. wizards / mage / bard just spam point blank AEs and hope they kill mobs before chanter/cleric are OOM.

4. Is there a max number of mobs that can be AE'd at one time? I know for bards it's 6.

Max mobs hit by each AE here is 3 iirc. It's reduced from live to limit the amount of cheesy swarm kiting that can be done. :)

At your level, I'd recommend trying East Badlands. Lots of mobs roaming around out there and no casters for the most part...at least none that roam.

PBAoE's follow different rules than regular AoE's. As far as I know wizard PBAoE's still have an unlimited amount of targets they can hit.

Oh man that stinks, I remember gathering every orc in South Wastes and killing them at once trying to get headbands. That would be a pain to farm now :dumb:

If I remember correctly its:

Rains = 2 targets
AoE's = 3 targets
PBAoE's = 4 targets

correct me if I'm wrong.

While I have never actually counted strikes from a pbaoe I think it MAY hit more than 4 targets. Rains/aoes hit 2/3 mobs + the caster if they're too close.

so, PBAoEs can hit many targets.

chanter stun doesn't work like Live, but what about bard / chanter AE mez? I think it could work

where are some good locations? for 30s, 40s? 50s? preferebly indoors so mobs will be grouped close together

A while back we used to run AE groups at the shades in FP. Pally tank for AE aggro, cleric healer, couple mages and you have yourself a pretty decent AE group.

Not sure how it would work now that AEs are odd, but could always try it again.

I sometimes do this in Highkeep. Cleric + mage + paladin and give it a go. Can clear out entire first floor in 1-3 pulls, depending on the people in your group. So this is indeed a possibilty and certain classes (Pallys, mages) do shine in those situations.
