Actual Specilization

We have AA's, they let players 'customize' their charactor with abilities. We know this. However, after a few core aa's, any others are just a little boost here and there. What differens one 65 raid geared warrior from another?

I think it would be really amazing if every 10 or 20 levels, charactors could choose an ability from a list or purchase the tome/spell for it, and that is the only one for that set that they can ever have. Maybe you get 5 or 10 options, but you can only have one. That way, you are deffinately unique and slightly speciallized, as this ability would have to be somehow usefull in a certain way.

I think something like this would be really neat especially if it was set up like a tree with branches of speciallization so you would buy ability A and that would let you either buy X or Y and so on so forth. That way peole would be set in at least that respect, making them slightly different from others of their class....sorta, I mean, if one ability was really good everyone would get that one, but they would all have to be unique enough to allow for people to not all choose the same path.

Just food for thought.

That's what AAs are for. You are not a unique and special snowflake. If this idea were there, there would be a "best way" soon enough, and every top AAd, top geared warrior would follow that same path.

It is also a huge rip off of D2 / WoW.

AAs are way more than a "little bonus" man. I can sort of see your point since you play a caster... but I have the feeling you don't have 250 aas.

Besides - With the new pet/caster AA synergy, I don't see ANY reason to complain about AAs.

Plus -- adding new abilities makes characters stronger, and calls for a rebalancing of PvM.

Please start considering your suggestions on your own instead of just dropping them on the board... I don't want to be an ogre, but you've kind of been dumping bad idea after bad idea. :brow:

you really shouldn't single someone out for actually putting out ideas. just cuz you don't think it's a good idea doesn't make it a bad idea (or a string of bad ideas). tomorrow millenimy might drop a suggestion that becomes a highlight of what makes WR better than Live to future WR generations, so perhaps trying to filter someone, anyone, out is the bad idea.

but, yeah, i think it's a little too D&D. I think what defines a player in EQ is how they play the class, maybe how they RP the character as well, but not what their abilities are. So it's a good idea, but it's the wrong game.

millenimy, I nominate you for BAD IDEA MAN

J/k

This would basically call for revamping and rebalancing the entire game, so, no.

I actually didn't put it here to say that AAs were bad at all...and I dont have 250 aa's yet. All I meant was what I said. Any player with the core AA and gear are going to be the same. The only difference would be, well, does your warrior kick durring a fight, 1hnd slash or 2? I mean, there are little things like that, but I thought something that was a little unique would be fun. I wasn't offering up a super skill 5K AoE skill or something, more of a specilization that could guide what your charactor did. For instance your charactor could only wear leather/chain, and would receive a large bonus to dodging, or somesuch. Sure, I see that that is hard to code, and could potentially become what you said, where everyone would go down the same path. But again...I only post here when Im bored and get an interesting idea, someday I could perhaps get one......

although, i have yet to see anyones ideas here put to use, not complaining about my own, but I have seen a lot of ideas by other people that I thought were good too. I mean, glitches and errors get fixed, and things that are really unbalancing, but it seems to stay at the core as a better version of strait-up EQlive.

(besides the /styles, those are cool)

Keep it up, Mill. At least you're making people think, you'll hit gold eventaully, just keep plugging away at it :) At the very least, you're suggesting things.

I am in no way suggesting that mill stop posting ideas. I'm just asking him to consider what it would take to impliment his ideas, and how they'd affect the game before suggesting them.

I want my shaman to have complete heal, snare, teleports, and charm. I think it would make shaman a great class. Does that mean I should suggest it?

Some people can be spontanious, some people can't :)

Just don't read Mill's posts if you don't like his suggestions.

I will admit that I often post ideas that would benefit enchanters, partially because I am vain and like myself to *win* but also because thats the only class I have experiance with... And yes, I only have 25 AAs right now, I know, I suck.

Lastly, I thought this was about the first or second Idea that wouldn't benefit enchanters only, GO ME!

What ever happend to being happy with the game mechanics and just adding new content such as encounters and items and quests and storyline? When will we stop retooling the gameplay? I can only speak for myself but there has been many times when I could have left the gameplay how it is and just played with more content. I am probably using the wrong words because I am tired but it seems we keep trying to reinvent the mousetrap and forget that the one we have now works just fine.

Sounds like you wanna play DAOC, not WR Mill. It has that idea, and as someone said, there are just set path that most people take, or 2 or 3. but very few unique.
