abyssal chestwraps

So i recently got this from a 6man encounter, I think it could use a little love maybe add 20hp/mana and 15 cha and switch the resists cause cr is worthless outside of pofrost. Don't get me wrong this is definitely a nice item but i think the multiple classes on it limit it.

Abyssal Chestwraps - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 56 Cold DMG: 25 Focus Effect: Healing Increment VII Effect: Torrent of Hate (Combat, 3.5) Skill Mod: Hide +15% STR: +35 AGI: +35 DEX: +15 WIS: +15 CHA: +15 HP: +230 MANA: +230 CR: +35 DR: +15 Damage Reduction: +5 Aggression: -5 Stun Resist: +5% Flowing Thought: +1 Weight: 3.0 Size: Large Class: CLR RNG DRU BRD ROG SHM Race: ALL Type 5 Aug Slot: Empty

Jhaldjarimar just takes a dump all over the bps we seen in raid and 6man progression, the new bps are side grades at best to djar. For comparison i linked Djar/Athear and Chestguard of Clear thought which is from Ikisith

Jhaldjarimar - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 72 Focus Effect: Healing Increment VII Effect: Majesty of the Djar (Combat, 0.0) STR: +10 STA: +20 AGI: +15 DEX: +10 WIS: +25 CHA: +30 HP: +230 MANA: +240 MR: +20 FR: +15 CR: +15 Stun Resist: +7% Weight: 8.0 Size: Large Class: CLR PAL DRU SHM Race: ALL

Chestguard of Clear Thought - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 45 Focus Effect: Range Increment VIII Effect: Celestial Cleansing (Combat, 3.0) STR: +10 STA: +25 AGI: +25 DEX: +10 WIS: +30 CHA: +25 HP: +245 MANA: +250 MR: +45 Mind Shield: +5% Stun Resist: +10% Flowing Thought: +1 Weight: 9.0 Size: Large Class: CLR DRU SHM Race: ALL

For Druids/Rangers/Rogues
Athear, Tunic of the Last Stand - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 48 Focus Effect: Mana Conservation VII STR: +20 STA: +20 AGI: +18 DEX: +18 WIS: +16 CHA: +16 HP: +235 MANA: +270 CR: +24 PR: +13 DR: +13 Damage Reduction: +5 Critical Strike: +2% Weight: 0.9 Size: Large Class: RNG DRU MNK ROG BST Race: ALL

Rogues would never use abyssal bp because of the 2 other mod bps we have come across

Ringmail of Shadowed Pools - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 58 Focus Effect: Damage Increment VII Effect: Ferocity VII (Worn) Skill Mod: Backstab +5% STR: +15 STA: +15 AGI: +20 DEX: +30 CHA: +15 HP: +245 MANA: +195 MR: +25 DR: +25 Weight: 5.5 Size: Large Class: RNG BRD ROG Race: ALL

Runeward Linkmail - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 55 Cold DMG: 15 Effect: Mirror Ward (Combat, 2.5) Skill Mod: Piercing +5% STR: +15 STA: +12 AGI: +15 DEX: +15 WIS: +25 CHA: +12 HP: +225 MANA: +200 MR: +25 PR: +15 DR: +15 Stun Resist: +5% Flowing Thought: +1 Weight: 7.5 Size: Large Class: RNG ROG SHM Race: ALL

And bards have far better bp options

Runeward Platemail - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 78 Effect: Rune V (Combat, 1.0) Skill Mod: Parry +5% STA: +25 AGI: +15 DEX: +15 WIS: +10 INT: +10 CHA: +10 HP: +230 MANA: +175 MR: +30 PR: +10 DR: +10 Aggression: +3 Weight: 10.5 Size: Giant Class: WAR PAL SHD BRD Race: ALL

Magmablood Cuirass - [MAGIC ITEM] [LORE ITEM] [NO DROP] Slot: CHEST AC: 76 Effect: Ferocity VIII (Worn) STR: +24 STA: +24 AGI: +24 DEX: +24 HP: +245 MANA: +175 FR: +30 CR: +30 Damage Reduction: +5 Critical Strike: +1% Weight: 12.0 Size: Giant Class: WAR PAL SHD BRD Race: ALL

warcry, SSS, succubus, cotp, blademaster/proc songs, call to battle, savagery

these are support classes

what about the melee DPS?

Personally think this is the best ranger bp I have seen so far except it would be nice to have an archery mod since thus far I havent seen any beside thaz bp/gloves and IS bow.

With this said there may be something undiscovered.

Also, -250 ac on a face...I would gladly take -1% haste over a lose of 2 pieces of gear.

Ah yes because 47% haste is easily found on trees as well as having your damage focus combined with the best melee haste in game and because gear really does have 125 ac each due to dps always taking melee damage.

Choosing to not use sight of recklessness means one of two things:

1) You are in a fight in which you cannot avoid melee damage and the ac hit is enough to make you a detriment to your healer.

OR

2) You are a simpleton who cares far too much about his fomelo and not enough about contributing the most you can to the group/raid.

Not saying 47 is easily available, but when you can get 48 you prob have access to 47. Also, at a 3/1 conversion -250ac is about -750hp. Most gear at that tier has 2-250 hp. 225*2 = 450, 750-450 = 300, 300hp converted back down is 100ac, 50 ac an item. Thus making the defensive bonus of 2x 225hp / 50ac items. The math works pretty well. Also, less than 1% dps increase when I have seen countless dps pull agro(which is much more likely w/ +5 agro), or lag hits and someone has to tank out of role for 20% or... I would rather keep those options open then scale myself down a tier.

I don't even know how to respond to this.

Here is a more thoroughly explained version of the math:

So most items at the tier average 50ac (this may be a bit high or low depending on slot). 2 pieces of gear would equal 100ac. The initial 250 ac loss minus 100ac for 2 pieces of gear leaves you with 150 ac remainder. 150ac time 3 (assuming 3hp/1ac) equals 450hp equivalent. 450hp divided by 2 (for the 2 pieces of gear) equals 225hp per piece of gear. Thus the initial -250ac is equivalent to losing the defensive bonus of 2 225hp/50ac items.

Given that 50ac / 225hp is about what gear has at the tier 11ish range. The mask drops you 2 pieces.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now with the +5% agro there is a far higher likelihood of pulling agro. This may not be a huge issue with rogue evade or FD, but still a decently large issue. With the subpar jolt line this requires more time jolting, thus less time dpsing. Which will result in a sub par results (will see results bowing, but not as a full time item). Given that I haven't played a BL regularly, I'm not sure the odds of them pulling agro with a high modifier and no agro reduction methods. Lastly, not that it really needs said, but tanks should never take the loss and its a pretty bad caster item (unless you really need to burn fire only then maybe).

doesnt how fast you attack have like a cap or something? or in other words a 20 delay weapon can only be hasted to a certain point where like 100% haste would do as much as 45% cause it caped out? never really asked before, kinda curious

I understood your math but there is literally no way you can equate the lost AC to HP unless you are taking PS or WW in which case why would you be wearing the mask in the first place. It's a situational item.

I would disagree as i have seen many melee pull agro and tanks die occasionally. At which point a dps w/o appropriate defensive ability dies and you cant dps when your dead.

About the only situation I can see this used is on an "ae only" fight as its just not worth the hit. I would much rather have a raid of 700 dps chars the entire time than 707dps half the time.

Maybe at 50% haste the reward would outweigh the risk but i don't really think it does at 48.

Minimum delay is processing speed. I've seen up to around 100% haste work with 1 delay weapons. A 2 delay weapon would take at least twice as much to cap out, etc. There's no risk of running into this.

ah okay thanks. good to know

i strongly disagree for the principle that you should not get aggro ever when shooting. That being said, it is really a situational item. And it's pretty cool too!
